A Busy Final Week Of February

Good Sunday, everyone. As hard as it is to believe, we are now in the final week of February and our weather pattern is about to crank up again. We have one system moving in from the west later today, with more of a winter looking system targeting us by Wednesday and Thursday.

Let’s start with today and then hit the fast-forward button. Temps today reach the 50s as clouds increase. Showers move into far western Kentucky this afternoon then slowly overspread the rest of the state later through tonight. Here are your radars to track the action in from the west…

Monday is a rainy day and we could even have a few rumbles of thunder making an appearance. The rain will then slow down Monday night and early Tuesday, leading to a cloudy break for much of Tuesday.

Colder air continues to dive into the area on Wednesday as another system develops just to our east. As this lifts northward through the Appalachian Mountains, some snow breaks out in our region. Will this be true system snow or just periods of snow showers that linger through Thursday?

There’s also the chance for a system to drop in behind that around Friday or Saturday.

The Euro shows our potential from this setup…

The Canadian actually keeps the winter looking pattern going through the first few days of March…

I will have updates later today. Have a good one and take care.

Weekend Update On A Busy Setup Ahead

Good afternoon, everyone. We have sunny skies and milder temps controlling the weather across Kentucky, but changes are just around the corner. The closing days of February look very busy as Old Man Winter takes another shot at us.

The first system is still set to move in here from west to east late Sunday into Monday. That brings rain and dreary weather, and I can’t even rule out a rumble of thunder.

The next system brings more of a winter weather threat to the region Wednesday and Thursday with the potential for another system to follow it up from the northwest.

Here’s how the Canadian sees it..

The European…

The GFS is, as expected, the most progressive because that’s what the model does…

Snow chances would show up from Wednesday through Saturday. To what extent, remains to be seen. Regardless, temps are going to be very cold to close out February.

The trend on the European Model is to get that cold out of here pretty quickly, with milder than normal temps for the first week of March…

The European Ensembles settle that pattern in for a bit…

I will take that and run with it! 🙂

Have a great rest of your day and take care.

Great Weather Before Big Changes

Good Saturday, folks. Today is a flat out gorgeous day across Kentucky and surrounding states. This nice weather will also come with an increase in temps right on through Sunday. As we wrap up the weekend and head into the final week of February, big changes show up. Ugh.

Let’s start with our Saturday forecast. It’s awesome! 🙂

Sunday doesn’t look bad at all as clouds increase and temps reach the 50s. Those clouds are ahead of our next wet weather maker slated to arrive in the west by Sunday evening. From there, this overspreads the rest of the state and continues through Monday and Monday night.

Rainfall numbers may reach an inch for some…

The second system follows that up with more of a winter look as we get into the middle and end of next week…

That cold air will be with us to close out February and kick off March. How long can this hold? The various ensembles suggest it won’t stick around long. The GFS Ensembles are showing a similar milder look developing compared to the Euro Ensembles…

Bring it! 🙂

I will have another update later today. Make it a great day and take care.
