Good Tuesday everybody. The Monday rain parade was good for many and not so hot for others. We have one more shot at scattered showers and storms today before pleasant temps return. I don’t think a whole lot of people are complaining about the temps June has provided us with, so far.
The rains of Monday were on the funky side. We had a nice swath of a half to one inch rain across much of central Kentucky. That was bracketed by very light rain across the east and next to nothing around the Interstate 65 corridor. Farther west… severe thunderstorms brought more than an inch of water to much of western Kentucky. Complicated enough? Things can’t be normal with the weather around here.
Eastern Kentucky has the best shot at seeing scattered showers and storms today. The chances will drop greatly the farther west you live. Highs will warm into the 80-85 degree range ahead of a cold front that drops in from the northwest. This front will bring us another round of nice as we roll into the middle and end of the week.
The GFS Ensembles Temp Departure map for Tomorrow shows the cooler than normal temps…
Much of the state should stay in the 70s for highs. Lows by Thursday morning will take a walk on the cool side with upper 40s in the areas that normally run colder.
The nice air takes us through the rest of the week before flirting with hot over the weekend. That flirtation may also spark a stray storm or two.
Another cold front may dive southeastward into our region by early next week. You can definitely see a nice sized dip in the jet stream showing up on the European Model…
That will be our next threat for widespread showers and thunderstorms.
Enjoy your Tuesday and take care.
