Good Friday everyone. A taste of early fall is in the air across the bluegrass state today and will hang around into the coming weekend. This September blast has been talked about on KWC for more than a week now and I am already zeroing in on another shot about a week from now. Hmmm… anyone detecting a trend?
A cold front will continue to work across the state early today. Showers and some rumbles of thunder will be noted early today as clearing skies work in from west to east later in the day. Winds will be gusty at times as cooler air continues to pour into the region. Highs today should stay in the 70s.
Those 70s will hang tough into Saturday for most of the state with upper 70s to low 80s by Sunday. The drought in the west will likely add a few degrees to your temps. Lows the next few mornings will drop into the middle 50s for many. Some of the traditional cool spots may wind up closer to 50 degrees. Record lows during this time are in the low 50s for many cities.
Another system will develop and work into the region early next week. The European Model shows it…
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be around late Monday into Tuesday as that front crosses the state. Notice how that keeps our temps in check with normal to slightly below normal readings.
We may be seeing another impressive shot of cool air working in by this time next week. All the models are suggesting another big dip in the jet stream allowing for the buildup of cool air in Canada to dive southward. The European Model is almost chilly looking…
Could all this be leading to an early start to fall? Maybe so. I mean… it’s going to snow on Halloween, right?
Have a great Friday and take care.
