Super Bowl Sunday Snow

Good Sunday and Happy Super Bowl. Another band of light snow is working across the state early today and that will be followed up by snow showers and flurries for the rest of the afternoon and evening.

The system this morning isn’t as strong as the one that passed across the commonwealth on Saturday. This one will also take aim on areas a little farther south. Here’s a look at what may fall today…

Special

That doesn’t mean everyone within the 1″-2″ range will see those totals… it’s the area that stands the best chance at getting some of the good stuff.

The snow showers and flurries will move out later this evening and then we will turn our attention toward the next system rolling for late Monday. This is likely to produce a mix of rain and snow across the southern half of the state with light snow across the north. That may very well put down some light accumulations for a few areas.

Temps will slowly moderate next week and may turn mild by the following weekend as a storm develops across the plains states…

GFS 2

That setup may lead to another round of… thunderstorms, at some point. The pattern won’t last long as I see growing signs of another major blast of winter showing up during the week of the 11th. Take a look at the deep trough being forecast to redevelop across our region…

GFS 3

Throw in an increasingly active southern storm track and you may get some serious fun and games. I will update as needed later today. Have a great Sunday and take care.
