A Mild Start To A Cold Week

Good Monday to one and all. Temps today will finally begin to warm and that’s the good news. The bad news… the rest of the week turns much colder than normal. We have a busy pattern shaping up to go along with the cold air that pushes back in later tonight.

Temps today will hit the low and mid 50s on a gusty southwesterly wind. That wind is ahead of a strong cold front that will send clouds spreading eastward this afternoon. Widespread showers will follow the clouds late this evening into the overnight.

That’s when the front works eastward into Tuesday morning. Much colder air will filter in behind the gusty front and this will change the rain over to a period of light snow and snow showers from west to east…

GFS

There’s the chance for a minor accumulation for some areas. Tuesday will be a very windy and cold day with readings in the low and middle 30s.

Wednesday will be cold with teens to start and upper 20s and low 30s for highs… even with some sunshine.

The next storm system will roll into town on Thursday. Cold air will be in place as precipitation moves in and that may set the stage for a little bit of everything to fall from the sky. Snow, rain, sleet and freezing rain all show up on the GFS…GFS 3

Much of that should change to plain old rain by later Thursday night and Friday, but it bears watching.

This pattern continues to be loaded with storms and that should take us through the rest of the month and into early March. The next one showing up on the models is late this weekend and early next week…

EuroOne of these systems over the next few weeks is likely to blow up into a monster.

Have a great Monday and take care.
