A Spring Pattern Getting Closer

Good Tuesday to one and all. A serious case of spring fever is just days away from becoming a full blown epidemic here in the bluegrass state. Our long, cold winter is about to come to an end as we break out into a much warmer pattern. Of course, this goes along with the thoughts found on the blog since back in late January and early February.

Temps today will run much colder than normal. Readings will be in the 20s to start and 40s to end. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny and that’s a trend that takes us into Wednesday. 20s will be common in the morning with upper 40s and low 50s by the afternoon.

Thursday and Thursday night will find a low pressure working eastward across the deep south. This will have an inverted trough that can bring some chilly showers into the region. The GFS is the most adamant about this…

The European Model is much farther south with the moisture field, but I do think some showers sneak in here. Where it rains… temps will be in the 40s. 50s will be noted outside of the rain.

The opening day of the spring meet at Keeneland looks dry with temps in the 50s.

MUCH milder air surges in for the weekend and highs may hit 70 by Sunday. That’s the start of a warm pattern for next week that may find an 80 degree temps around here. The pattern is also taking on the stormy look we’ve been yapping about. While spring fights in from the south… the northern part of the country stays cold…EuroThat can lead to rounds of thunderstorms developing at some point for the middle and end of next week.

Make it a great Tuesday and take care
