A Taste Of March Blowing In

Good Wednesday and welcome to a day straight out of early March. Another strong cold front is plowing across the state and is putting a hurting on area thermometers. This air mass will be slow to moderate and when it does… the threat for showers and thunderstorms will be on the increase.

Temps will start today in the upper 50s to low 60s and then drop like a rock as the front moves through. Readings will dip into the low and mid 40s behind the boundary, making for a nasty day. Widespread showers will slowly give way to some clearing from west to east during the afternoon and early evening.

That will set the stage for a return to the 30s to start Thursday. That’s a day featuring a mix of sun and clouds with temps in the upper 50s. I can’t rule out a shower or a few sprinkles.

A slow moving low pressure will work into the region by late Friday and hang around into the weekend. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely carry us through Saturday and Sunday and into early next week. The GFS is spitting out some decent 7 day rain numbers…

The same model continues the wetter than normal pattern for much of the region over the next two weeks…

GFS 2Again… this is a totally different pattern than the one we were in a year ago. That should mean a different look and feel to the summer ahead.

Make it a great day and take care.
