Good Friday, everyone. Our weather is about to go from frosty to stormy as we head into the upcoming weekend. This takes place as the overall pattern takes on more of a blocky look as we head into early May. This may set the stage for some ugly conditions at a time of the year we don’t like seeing it here in horse country.
Thermometer readings will go from the low 30s this morning to the low and middle 60s for afternoon highs. That’s when an increase in clouds will be noted from west to east. Isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop across the western half of the state later tonight. Those will increase and spread across the rest of the state on Saturday.
The NAM Simulated Radar looks fairly amped up…
Locally heavy rainfall will be possible as the swatch of showers and storms moves through. Additional showers and storms will be possible on Sunday. While the weekend doesn’t look like a total washout… you should have a backup plan to any of those outdoor activities.
Temps early next week warm into the upper 70s to low 80s for a few days. That will be ahead of another strong cold front that moves in by the middle of the week. Showers and strong thunderstorms would be possible by that point.
Many of the other medium range forecast models look similar to what you see there. If they are right… that could lead to some damp and cool weather that hangs around for days on end.
Make it a fantastic Friday and take care.
