Friday Night Weather Lights

Good evening, gang. Spring is blowing back into the bluegrass state and it’s doing so in grand fashion. Today was a rare day with teens to start and 60s to end. That’s pretty impressive. While the focus going into the weekend is on spring, winter tries to show up next week.

Temps out there tonight will stay mild with reading in the upper 40s and low 50s by Saturday morning. Most areas hit 60 or better on Saturday with clouds thickening and some scattered showers. The numbers will then climb into the 60s Saturday night and Sunday morning. That’s right… The numbers climb.

The climb will stop right there as a cold front drops in from the northwest. Watch the temps crash…

Seasonal temps settle in for Monday and Tuesday as we watch to see what happens just after that. The European Model is now going tor a full blown hookup between a system coming in from the southwest and a system diving in from the north…

Euro 2

That blows up a huge winter storm that works from the southern states, up the east coast from Tuesday night through Thursday…

That certainly is an attention getting, but is it right? It keeps showing more and more of a connection, leading to a stronger storm, but other models keep the streams separate. If we don’t get a hookup, then we just get a one and done cold shot and a few flakes. Let’s watch the trends through the weekend.

Regardless of solutions, a much milder air twill then take over a few days later. I could even see the pattern throwing a severe weather event our way before another winter setup.

Enjoy the evening and take care.

A Milder Weekend Begins

Good Friday, everyone. We’ve made it to the weekend and we have another spring fling sweeping back in for the weekend. In the true fashion of this winter, it’s not going to last long with much colder air moving back in by Monday. This can lead us into a wilder scenario.

Highs today will warm quickly into the 50s as winds become southwesterly. Temps can make a run at 60 in the west.

Moisture will rapidly increase by early Saturday, leading to clouds and scattered showers. Showers become more numerous by Saturday evening as a wave of low pressure moves across the Ohio Valley. That drags a cold front across the state on Sunday…

Temps during this time will take off… then crash. Readings on Saturday make a run at 60 degrees, then rise into the low 60s Saturday night. That’s right, temps climb into the low 60s overnight. Those numbers will then drop quickly from northwest to southeast on Sunday, winding up in the 20s by Monday morning…

Starting today, winds are going to be very gusty and could reach 35mph at times through Sunday.

The setup for the middle of next week still finds a southern piece of energy trying to hook up with a system diving in from the northwest. The European Model is still getting these two together too far to our east…

I will have another update later today. Have a great Friday and take care.
