Good evening, folks. Our weekend is off and running on an absolutely gorgeous weather note. Temps today spiked to near 70 in a few spots and that’s a sign of things to come in this spring-like setup. Even as this is taking place, signs of a pattern change are showing up as we get ready to flip the calendar from February to March.
Saturday will find a weak system bringing an increase in showers to the region. This will do a number on temps with some big ranges showing up. Areas with rain are in the 50s, without the showers we can hit the 60s.
That action moves away Saturday night with lingering clouds into Sunday morning. Clearing skies take over with afternoon temps taking off into the low and mid 70s across the west, and mid to upper 60s east.
Monday looks downright warm and could break records for many areas. Highs from 70-75 look good with an outside shot of some upper 70s.
The next system moves in a little quicker on Tuesday and should deliver some later afternoon thunderstorms…
That will carry us into Wednesday with temps coming down several degrees because of clouds and the storm chances.
Gusty southwesterly winds should boost us back into the 70s by Thursday as we get set for a pattern changing storm system. This thing looks stout as it rolls in here late Friday into Saturday…
Strong thunderstorms to some snowflakes are possible in that type of a setup.
Much colder air takes over for next weekend and the models are trying to bring a system around the base of the trough…
That has a winter look to it.
The overall setup into early March looks active with winter fighting back into the country, doing battle with the seasonal changes toward spring. The active pattern shows up well on the precipitation forecast from the GFS Ensembles during this time…
Strong storms? Some snow? Both are on the table.
Make it a great evening and take care.

Good Friday to one and all. Our big surge of spring is taking over our weather pattern out there today and will hang tough for the next week. This could eventually put temps into near record high territory. Does this mean winter is toast? Nope.
Highs today will range from the upper 50s to near 60 in the east with low and middle 60s in the central and west. Skies will be partly to mostly sunny as southwesterly winds begin to crank.
Saturday’s weather will be tricky with a weak system moving in during the afternoon and evening. That will likely bring scattered showers to much of the state…
Highs ahead of that system can hit 60-65 before dropping into the 50s as the drops fall.
Clouds and a stray shower may linger into Sunday morning, but skies clean up during the afternoon as temps really take off. Low 70s will be likely in the west with 65-70 degrees across the rest of the state.
Near record highs then be possible for Monday and Tuesday.
Another system then develops across the south and may throw enough juice our way for some midweek showers and thunderstorms…
Once that rolls through here, highs by late Thursday and Friday can get a little out of control. That happens on a STRONG southwesterly flow ahead of a pattern changing storm system rolling in next weekend…
That will likely unleash a much colder pattern as we close out February and say hello to March.
I will update things later today. Enjoy the day and take care.
