A Warm and Stormy Setup

Good Monday, everyone. Flooding rains are finally pulling away from the region, with much warmer air settling in for the week ahead. This warm air will also be accompanied by a few fronts that can spawn some pretty good thunderstorms.

In the short-term, a leftover shower lingers in the east with clouds breaking from west to east. The mountains may stay in the 50s with the west in the low 70s.

Upper 70s to around 80 look common for Tuesday as sunny skies take over. Lower 80s should be around¬†by Wednesday on a strong southwesterly wind. This is ahead of a cold front sweeping in here Wednesday night with a line of showers and storms…

Some strong storms are possible, especially in the west.

Slightly cooler air moves in for Thursday, but a surge of true summer air moves in Friday through the upcoming weekend. The leading edge of the spring heat may be able to crank some big rounds of thunderstorms…

Once the warm front lifts to our north, temps surge…

Pushing those temps will be another strong storm system across the plains. This can be a severe weather producer from the plains to the Appalachian Mountains…

It’s also interesting to note how much snow is going to fall across the west and even upper Midwest. While it’s a summer look around here, this same setup is going to bring some huge snows to those areas.

Have a great Monday and take care.
