More Storms Usher In A Cooler Pattern

Good Thursday, everyone. We have showers and storms on the increase out there today. This action is ahead of a very strong cold front ready to plow across the bluegrass state on Friday. This will bring another big blast of fall temps our way, and this one is likely to hang around for a while.

Unfortunately, there’s a price to be paid as we are going into a pretty wet setup through the first half of August.

Let’s begin with today and roll forward. Showers and storms go up in clusters, with the best chance for strong storms in the north. Any boomer that’s out there can produce torrential rains, leading to some local high water issues. Track away…

The fall cold front arrives Friday with gusty winds and a line of showers and storms. If we can get some sunshine ahead of this line, the local severe weather threat will increase. Damaging winds would be the main player. Here’s the Friday severe weather outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

The showers and storms will push out of the region this evening as VERY cool air surges in from the northwest. Check out the temperature anomalies from the NAM…

A mix of sun and clouds will be noted on Saturday and the NAM is about as cool as you will ever find on an August day with sun. Check out the highs it has for Saturday…

That is likely too cool, but temps stay in the 70s for highs across our region.

Clouds will quickly increase on Sunday as another rain maker rolls our way from the west. This will take us into early next week…

Temps will be held way, way down once again.

With a hyper-active pattern, get ready for another big rain event later next week…

The European Model is spitting out some big time rain totals through next week…

Temps remain below normal right on through the middle of August. Time to stick in fork in what was already a wimpy summer? Hmmm

Have a great day and take care.
