Thursday Evening Update

Good evening, folks. The rain is finally rolling east of the bluegrass state, leaving us with a chilly wind from the northwest. This is a drying wind that will carry us through the upcoming weekend, with out and out cold winds arriving next week. That could even bring a touch of winter.

Here’s regional radar to track the rain out of the east…

Skies will be mainly clear on Friday and that carries us through Sunday. Highs Friday and Saturday reach the upper 40s to low 50s, with the 50s taking over on Sunday.

Overnight lows this weekend will drop deep into the 20s…

With a lot of VERY early buds and blooms showing up, use your best judgement, green thumbs.

Another cold front arrives Monday with an increase in showers and thunderstorms. Temps should hit 60 ahead of the front, then come crashing down behind it. The big question is… Can we get a storm system to cut off across the region? The GFS continues to advertise this, giving us rain and snow…

The temperature pattern continues to look colder than normal next week, with more of a back and forth taking shape the following week. The GFS Ensembles suggest some additional chances for flakes through the middle of March…

Enjoy your evening and take care.

March Starts With A Roar

Good Thursday and welcome to the month of March. The 3rd month of the year is roaring in like a lion with showers and thunderstorms, gusty winds and a late day temperature drop. Hang in there, some better weather is on the way for the weekend.

Today’s weather is nothing like one year ago today, as damaging winds and tornadoes were causing major issues across the state. Still, the potential is there for some local high water issues, especially across southern parts of the state.

Track away…

Winds this afternoon and evening may approach 40mph in gusts, with colder air settling in from the northwest. That could even spawn a flurry or two across the mountains of eastern Kentucky.

Friday looks much better with sunshine returning and temps in the upper 40s to low 50s.

Lows this weekend drop into the 20s, but our afternoons look really good. Sunshine will fill the sky with highs in the low 50s Saturday and mid and upper 50s for Sunday.

Another cold front then slams in here on Monday, bringing a much colder pattern for the first full week of March. The GFS continues to take on a wintry look…

Highs may stay in the 30s for a few days…

Ummm… No thanks. 🙁

I will update things later today, so check back. Have a great Thursday and take care.
