Kentucky Derby Week Weather

Good Monday, everyone. It’s the final day of April and it’s also the beginning of Kentucky Derby week. This is a magical time of year for the bluegrass state and the forecast always takes on added importance. With that in mind, let’s break down a very warm Derby week that will throw some storms our way before it’s over.

Our day begins on a frosty cold note and ends with temps making a run into the 70s. Skies will stay sunny. Tuesday will do it even better with highs around 80 as we hang on to the sunshine.

Wednesday and Thursday look to be very warm days. Highs should reach 80-85 degrees…

As this is happening, a big storm system is working slowly across the plains states, touching off severe weather. Our first small chance for a storm comes later Wednesday…

Most of the stormy weather looks to stay just to our north and west on Thursday, but it’s a close call…

Unfortunately, the best chance for storms arrives on Kentucky Oaks Day Friday…

As far as Kentucky Derby Day goes,  it’s all about just how fast that front blows through here. The GFS is trying to keep the front draped across Kentucky…

The European Model is also slowing this thing down some, keeping the shower and storm threat going in the south and east on Derby Day…

A shot of cooler than normal temps comes in behind this in about a week from now…

May does not look as cool against the averages as April was, but odds favor another below normal temperature month ahead of us.

Have a magnificent Monday and take care.
