Winter Weather Advisory Tonight

Good evening, folks. I’m just dropping by for a quick update on the light snowfall on the way tonight into early Friday. Overall, I have no changes to anything we’ve been highlighting of late. The timing of this snow will make for a slippery morning commute to begin Friday and likely lead to delays and cancellations.

As expected, the Winter Weather Advisory was expanded farther south…

I don’t have much change in the snowfall forecast, with the edges still a bit in question. That 1″-3″ could still slide a touch farther south or north…

A New Call For Snowfall

Good afternoon, everyone. A light snowmaker continues to roll our way for tonight and early Friday. As we get closer, this system looks a tad stronger and farther south, giving more Kentuckians the chance for snow.

Here’s the New Call For Snowfall..

Setups like this can overachieve and that’s something we will need to be watching for as it’s unfolding. That’s why I added the local 4″ possible. Those tend to occur in mesoscale bands and are hard to pinpoint until the game is already underway.

A Winter Weather Advisory is already out for many areas and may have to be expanded…

I will have a Last Call For Snowfall coming up on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm then on KWC this evening.

As this system moves away, a potent storm ramps up in the plains and throws high winds and strong thunderstorms our way on Saturday… A littler more than 24 hours after our snowfall…

The Storm Prediction Center is targeting western Kentucky with the greatest risk for severe storms…

Some of those strong storms may actually extend farther northeast. Winds are going to be a major player, with or without thunderstorms.

Here are your tracking tools for the snow approaching today…

A Light Snowfall For Some

Good Thursday, everyone. Another very busy weather pattern is ready to take control of the weather across the Commonwealth. This overall setup is milder for the next week, but it’s actually beginning with a swath of light snow for parts of the area.

One little streak of light rain and light snow may zip in during the afternoon, but the main swath of light snow sweeps in overnight. The best chance to put some wet snow on the ground is across the north and northeast. Here’s the latest call for snowfall…

Whatever falls where you live, if anything, will melt away quickly Friday as temps rise into the 40s with a few showers taking over.

Much milder air surges on Saturday as a major storm cranks across the plains states. This storm will bring high winds and thunderstorms our way through Saturday night…

There is the potential for severe thunderstorms into parts of the region. Here’s the Saturday Severe Weather Outlook from the Storm Prediction Center…

Gusty winds and 60s will be noted for Sunday, but things look mainly dry after the early morning action moves away. After a brief temp dip on Monday, the numbers surge for the middle of next week when another severe threat moves in…

I will have updates later today. Until then, Here are your Thursday flake tracking tools…
