Temps Crashing From West To East

Good evening, folks. Our big temperature crash is underway as a cold front sweeps in from the west. This boundary is producing gusty showers and storms, but it’s the massive temp swing stealing the weather show.

First off, let’s track the rains working across the Commonwealth…

Winds will be gusty as the temps crash quickly. Watch the numbers drop into the 30s tonight across the western half of the state, then statewide Saturday night…

If winds go calm, that would set the stage for frost by Sunday morning. I think that is especially the case in the sheltered valleys.

The winds tonight and Saturday actually are enough to create a wind chill. Check it out…

B to the RRRRRRRR!

Sunday and Monday continue to look very nice with highs in the 60s. Our next system arrives on Tuesday with some chilly showers…

After another shot of similar chill to what we have this weekend, temps should bounce back and may go above normal by next weekend. That’s when we could turn the pattern pretty wet for a bit. I’m watching the final week of October for the potential of a winter looking trough developing across the country.

Enjoy the evening and take care.

Tracking The Temp Crash

Good Friday, everybody. Our powerful fall cold front is rolling into the state, bringing gusty winds, a few showers and storms and a MAJOR temp crash. The drop in temps is very prolific and will lead to the potential for a touch of frost over the weekend.

This front will also tough off a line of showers and storms working across western Kentucky today, then into central parts of the state this evening. Eastern Kentucky may not get in the action until very late tonight into early Saturday.

Here are your radars to track the action…

Winds will be gusty as temps crash from west to east behind the front. The numbers will drop more than 30 degrees in just a few hours. At some point today, you may see temps in eastern Kentucky in the low 80s with upper 40s in the far west. Ouch. Winds will also be gusty through Saturday.

Saturday morning finds temps dropping deep into the 30s across the western half of the state as the cold rushes in…

Winds will still be gusty and that gives us our first wind chill of the year…

Check out those numbers to our northwest. Dang that’s some cold stuff for this time of year.

Admit it… me saying “wind chill” gets y’all excited about the season to come. 🙂

Partly sunny skies will take control for the rest of Saturday with temps in the 50s for many. Winds will be gusty, keeping that added chill to the air.

Saturday night may feature frost across much of the region. Lows drop deep into the 30s, with some of the colder valleys possibly going below freezing…

Sunday into Monday look absolutely awesome with a mix of sun and clouds and seasonal temps.

Our next system rolls through here Tuesday into Wednesday as we get another big dip in the jet stream. That fires up a storm system bringing the chance for some rain our way…

That setup continues to have more of a cold season look to it.

I will hook you up with another update this evening, so check back. Enjoy your Friday and take care.
