A Lot Of Wind This Weekend

Good evening, folks. It’s another big wind maker rolling into the region this weekend and it could cause a few mores issues Saturday. Behind all this comes a few days of arctic air that will carry is into the first half of next week.

As our cold front moves in Saturday, a line of showers and some thunder will be possible. Winds may gust to 50mph or a little greater. The models are seeing more and more of this potential…

Hi Res NAM

That can cause some damage for a second straight Saturday.

The temp plunge behind this system continues to look pretty awesome if you are into that kind of thing. Cold temps and gusty winds will make for some brutal wind chills from Sunday through Tuesday…

That kind of cold without snow is just wrong!!

The cold will ease a bit by the second half of the week as another storm system rolls through the region. That should unleash more cold behind it…

Enjoy the evening and take care.

Thursday Afternoon Update

Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a nice looking, but seasonally chilly day in the bluegrass state as we focus on the weekend system. This will bring another round of high winds before unleashing arctic air that takes us into early next week.

Clouds will increase tonight and Friday, but precipitation holds off until Friday evening. With cold air in place, there’s still a chance for a brief period of frozen stuff on the leading edge of this. The GFS is seeing some hit and run winter precip before rain takes over…

Freezing Rain

That really shouldn’t amount to much, if anything. Temps rise all night and into Saturday morning as gusty southwest winds boost temps into the 50s by midday Saturday. As the front slams in late in the afternoon, temps will crash. In between all this comes a nice line of gusty showers and maybe a rumble of thunder…

High wind action will be possible with this setup. Winds may very well gust to 50mph or a little greater at times Saturday.

Check out these gusts…

Hi Res NAM

Temps reach the upper teens and low 20s by Sunday morning and stay in the 20s on Sunday. Temps then bottom out around 10 by Monday morning…

Gusty winds will make it feel MUCH colder during the entire time, with wind chills possibly hitting zero or below by Monday morning…

I’ll update things later today, so check back. Have a good one and take care.

Another Big System Unleashes Arctic Air

Good Thursday, everyone. We are rolling toward the weekend with another potent storm system on the way. That’s going to be another big wind maker that produces more rain, but this one has a big change behind it. Arctic air is on the way from Sunday through early next week.

Temps out there today are pretty chilly compared to where we have been. Highs range from the upper 30s to middle 40s with a mix of sun and clouds.

Clouds will increase for Friday as the cold hangs around. The numbers will climb overnight as showers move in. There’s still the chance for a mix in the north, but that’s not very impressive. As the storm system works in here on Saturday, showers are likely with a rumble of thunder. Temps spike into the 50s then crash into the 20s late in the evening. There could be a snowflake or two showing up…

Winds are going to be a major player again on Saturday as gusts hit 50mph or a little greater…

Things get really cold behind this system from Sunday through Tuesday. Check out the numbers…

Highs will be below freezing with lows that can flirt with 10 degrees. Wind chills will be even colder during this time.

If you’re looking for some snow, watch an upper level disturbance moving in from the northwest early in the week. That’s your best chance to see some flakes.

The cold eases late next week, but will try to lock in for the long haul soon after.

I will have updates later today, so check back. Make it a good one and take care.
