Updating The Rest Of The Week Potential

Good evening, folks. Our cold front continues to slowly work into the region and will bring gusty showers to the region later tonight and Tuesday. That front then slows down to our south and allows for another wave of low pressure to develop along it. Several models are now making it a pretty close call for some winter weather in the southeast.

First things first, let’s track the showers moving in from the northwest…

Those showers become pretty widespread on Tuesday as winds gust up. Temps remain mild, but begin to crash behind the front from northwest to southeast.

That sets the stage for a seasonal brand of chill on Wednesday as skies go mostly sunny.

The European Model now brushes far southeastern Kentucky with a little bit of a mix of some light snow by Thursday…

The NAM goes the same route…

The GFS is a bit north as well…

The ICON is most aggressive…

As we head into the weekend, we find our next system rolling our way by Sunday. Nice weather will be noted ahead of this, but things change quickly as a bowling ball of a low pressure works in. The Euro has rain and snow with this and follows it up with another system a few days later…

You can see the cold coming in at the end of that run and this is something the  Ensembles continue to point to as we end the month and begin March…

Make it a great evening and take care.

Monday Afternoon Update

Good afternoon, everyone. It’s a nice and mild day across the Commonwealth, but wet weather is on the way for Tuesday. That’s when a cold front drops in here from the northwest with gusty showers and colder air coming in behind it. That cold air is likely to force the next system to our south later in the week.

Clouds will thicken this afternoon with temps warming into the 60-65 degree range for many. Soak. It Up.

A few showers will be noted to our west and north and some of these may work into areas of Kentucky before the evening is over. Here are your radars to follow along……

Tuesday is a windy day as our front slams in from the northwest with showers and maybe a rumble of thunder. Colder air comes in behind this for Wednesday, pushing our boundary far enough south to likely keep that next system far enough away to have little impact on our weather…

Seasonally chilly air controls the second half of the week with temps climbing this weekend. That’s when we wait and see what a couple of bowling ball looking systems bring our way.

The Ensembles continue to point toward mild going to cold to end the month and kick off March…

I will throw you another update this evening. Have a good one and take care.

Tracking A Cold Front Toward Kentucky

Good Monday, everyone. It’s a mild start to the week as we await the arrival of a potent cold front. This bad boy drops in here Tuesday and will usher in a much colder pattern for the rest of the week. Showers and storms will accompany the front, but is there any hope of winter weather behind it?

Let’s get this party started with the weather out there today. Temps will range from 60-65 in many places under a mix of clouds and sun. There’s the chance for a shower or two in the west and far north later today into the evening hours. Here are your radars to track the action to our west…

As the cold front moves in on Tuesday, gusty showers and some rumbles of thunder blow through the region. That front presses to our south as colder air comes in behind it for Wednesday. Another system is likely to develop along this front and should roll due east.

Odds still favor this being too far south to have much of, if any, impact on our weather, but the it’s a little closer call on some of the models…

I’m still not ready to fully slam the door on this system coming farther north. Let’s give it another day or so and see if there’s any kind of trend. If not, then stick a fork in it.

Temps will bounce back in a big way this weekend and early next week. That will be followed by bowling ball systems rolling our way next week as we see a stout temp gradient setting up across the state. The models handle these differently, but do suggest some winter weather at some point…

I will have updates later today. Make it a good one and take care.
