Good evening, folks. It’s already been a super active weather day with major hail producing thunderstorms going up across central and eastern Kentucky. Now we focus our attention to the main event that shows up later this evening into the wee hours of Thursday.
Damaging wind is the primary threat from our line of storms racing in from the west and northwest. These storms, and any storms ahead of them, can also be major hail producers. There’s also the potential for a few tornadoes to spin up along the line. Those are often very hard to detect, so there may not me much lead time ahead of them.
I have you all set to track the action…

As mentioned, a few strong or locally severe storms are possible early this morning. Skies become partly sunny with another windy and warm day. A strong to severe storm is also possible this afternoon and early evening.
As our cold front drops in from the northwest, a line of strong to severe storms is likely to sweep east and southeast along it. Damaging winds, large hail and a tornado will be possible. The damaging wind threat may really ramp up with some bows potentially developing along the line.

That’s another frost threat waiting on us Friday night and Saturday morning. Beyond that, we are looking at a potent storm system that may move right on top of the region. Depending on the exact track and timing of this low, temps can spike up one more time, which could also mean strong storms ahead of this. A BIG dump of cold air comes in behind this…
