Good Monday, everyone. The threat for showers and thunderstorms will increase today through the middle of the week. The rounds of storms may pack a severe weather punch and that’s what we are watching for later today. As always, I have the blog set up for your storm tracking needs.
Here’s a breakdown of the some things I’m watching for…
– Today should be another windy day with temps spiking into the mid and upper 80s ahead of developing showers and storms.
– Storms will increase from northwest to southeast and could be strong or severe by the evening. Damaging winds and large hail will be the main players.
– Showers and storms will come at us in waves tonight through Wednesday. Any one round may be severe.
– Heavy rainfall is likely during this same time. That doesn’t mean it’s going to rain all the time, but you should get some healthy rains at some point. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a lot of areas pick up 1″ of rain over the next few days. Locally higher amounts are very possible.
– Cooler air moves in for the middle and end of the week. This won’t be as cool as our last shot, but the temps certainly look pleasant.
Let’s get to tracking…

Garden beans & tomatoes hoping for some drops this week.
Those are some nice looking storms in Indiana & Illinois on the accu weather radar. I guess they’re not severe though…nor will they ever to get to Kentucky by my reckoning.
still hoping for some rain at Clay’s Ferry. got nothing last week! I had to haul the hose out and water the giant garden!
so far the line has not weaken.
it is cloudy and windy in Louisville
Its been windy all day. As far as that line of storms not real confident that will make it to Louisville before falling apart. Its a impressive line causing wind damage. Tomorrow looks to be our best day for storms.
I looked at the radar a moment ago.
it appears that the Louisville split has begun.
I should not be surprise.
It will leave a nice boundary for storms to fire up tomorrow with the daytime heating. Hopefully it will be widespread beneficial rainfall.
So then tonight through tomorrow night is the window of precip? I thought the front was going to put the brakes on?
I had a drought buster in my part of Louisville tonight. Rain gauge shows .03 inches of rain. Maybe better luck tomorrow? Sadly, I’ll believe it when I see it.
typical split in hikes point.
Parts of frankfort over 1 inch of rain my area barely a dust settler?
Chris may have retweeted some pics of wild looking yellow sunsets from Northern Kentucky…I don’t follow him on Twitter for a couple of reasons. But it was BRIGHT here about 30 minutes ago.
Follow me!! 😉
Gah, is this really going to miss much of Lexington? My yard is so dry, no soaking rain in many weeks :/
It missed again.
