Good Thursday, everyone. Gorgeous weather continues across the bluegrass state today, but big changes are on the way. These changes will steam us up and throw some storms our way by the weekend. That won’t last long as temps trend in the opposite direction next week.
Let’s start where we are now. Highs today will mainly be in the low 80s for much of central and eastern Kentucky. A few middle 80s will be around in the west. Humidity levels will continue to run on the low side with a mix of sun and clouds. Isolated showers and storms may pop across the southeast.
Current temperatures
Friday will find temps warming into the middle 80s for many as we hang on to the sun. Saturday looks steamy with upper 80s and the occasional 90 showing up. Watch the northwestern sky for some showers and storms trying to ride in here around the core of the heat well to our southwest…
The threat for showers and storms will increase from Sunday into Monday as a powerful system drops in from the northwest. The air coming in behind this looks pretty darn cool for the middle and end of next week…
Check out how far below normal the temps are on the European Model…
That’s darn impressive for much of the country and would really cement the cooler than normal July we have going on for many areas.
Have a great day and take care.
Wow, now that’s what we call the summer polar vortex. On average, the peak of the summer heat is usually around the 2nd to 3rd week of July. Think about it, once these next couple of weeks past, the temps will slowly start declining as a whole and by the time you know it, boom, the first frost/snow.
Bryant, I hope your “right” about this upcoming winter being a Blowtorch 2.0. (It will hopefully be opposite) Think snow! (Or rain ATM)
Considering the high number of hotter than normal days we’ve had since March until last week, we’re due for some cooler weather. Sleeping in cool, outside air is the sleep of champions.
Yup when you are far away from city lights and noise especially.
if these weather patterns tend to keep this up well be looking at snow in October and a long long winter like the last one we had but worse…what do ya think
A strong or even moderate EL Nino is probably off the table as some were predicting..We may get lucky and salvage a weak one..Still early so who really know’s..Could be wrong but was the Hurricane forecast for this season based on a strong El Nino?..If so there may be a few surprises as we head into the time of year for favorable development…
Cooler than normal?!? What rock has Chris been under.?
Ummmm… temps are running below normal for this month. Not sure what you are trying to get at.
Beth must have changed handles lol. 😉
I generally just attack idiotic, whiny, holier-than-thou posters.
But you only attack me and I am not any of those. 😉
Ready for rain, the last 15 days in eastern Franklin co. Desert .35in. Of rain, that is dry for anytime of year especially in the warmer weather high sun months!
Come on rain this weekend, you owe us some love!
Lil winter talk going any predictions fro cb
Currently having one of those 0-to-60 pop up rain events in Berea. It really does just pop out of nothing on the radar. It can just sit there for a while.
High of 86 today (85 on Mesonet), so I guess the city must have moved to Western Ky while I wasn’t looking.
88 Steamy Degrees here in Williamsburg while ago…down to 85 now
Weather Channel said it hit 90 at 4 pm but don’t know about that.
Not sure of the exact year (perhaps 2004ish), but I recall an exceptional summer cool wave. Not only for our area. There were lots of record lows even into the deep South. Anyway, looks like there could be somewhat of a repeat of that next week.
In the meantime, kind of hot today but low humidity in Nashville TN (driving home from work, my car thermometer indicated 90). But the dewpoint temp is a nice 56 degrees.
Temps this summer have been great so far besides a few really humid days, now if we can just get those rare widespread rains to join the party we are perfect!
