Good Sunday, folks. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms are beginning to rumble across Kentucky and this is a sign of things to come. It is not going to rain the entire day or the entire week ahead, but when it does… watch out. The atmosphere is loaded with moisture and can put down some very heavy rains.
The models continue to key on this heavy rain threat… Today in the west then into central and eastern Kentucky over the next several days. The numbers from the European Model suggest a flash flood threat…
The GFS shows something similar over the next week…
When I start seeing models spitting our 5″ amounts over the same general area, the “uh-oh” alarm goes off in my head. We will need to really watch the local flash flood threat in the coming days.
The overall pattern places our region in between a shot of cool in the northeast and a surge of big heat in the plains…
That often leads to stormy weather in our part of the world with warm temps and high humidity levels.
Your daily tracking toys…
Rainfall Since Midnight
Have a great day and take care.
So it’s gonna be sticky-wet-humid all week with flooding rains for some. Really don’t care for this pattern.
Latest WPC forecast paints 2-4″ for eastern KY from I-75 corridor eastward for the upcoming week.
That means the High heat could nose in along the I-65 corridor westward this week. Still hard to tell how far east that periphery will make it. Wherever it decides to park, you can bet on the highest rain totals just east of that.
I will take all the rain we can get, my part of the world has not been as wet as Alot of folks in the past few weeks!
We have not had a drop of rain all day. The radar shows rain on the way and somewhere east of Lexington, the front splits, goes north-south or vanishes. The Dome is here.
Lovin’ the rain! Keep it comin’, Chris!
Very overcast and dreary all day.Had a couple of light showers pass over that hardly wet the ground. We got quiet a bit last week so we aren’t dry. With the dampness in the air and the gloomy look its more like a day in winter except its warm.
Don’t think we hit 80 today because it was so overcast.Guess it will be hit and miss for the showers the next couple of days.Hopefully no bad storms for anyone.

Humm..Can’t seem to post today so I have deleted most everything I typed both tries..
Anyway I don’t think we made it to 80 today.Very dreary and overcast all day.Just a few sprinkles.
Yeah – If it doesn’t take the first time, I usually don’t even bother trying again.
The message board auto-mod goes a bit overboard at times. Even seemingly innocent words cause the entire post to get deleted. At least for the time being, it’s kind of trial and error until you find the “bad” word.
For example, the word c*l*a*s*s will get the whole post sent to cyberspace. Same with D*i*c*k*s*o*n County, Tennessee. This can be overcome by having blank spaces and/or the likes of a ” * ” between letters.
Well goodness now all three posts I tried to make is now showing up.I waited in between posting to make sure it didn’t show up but now they are all there.Shows them a minute or two apart..
At 11pm, getting drenched in Valley Station…rainfall totals at 1.7″ at my house since this morning and still raining moderately. Radar indicates a deformation zone right over my area.
Mini drought buster for parts of western KY…they really needed it.
