Good Thursday to one and all. Labor Day Weekend is one day from kicking off and the forecast isn’t improving as we get closer. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms look to kick back in during this time. The action may even get a boost from a disturbance across the northern Gulf Of Mexico.
Let’s start with where we are today and roll forward. A weak front is parked across the state and this will deliver a few showers and storms to some folks. The best chance will be in the south and west with slightly drier and cooler air hitting the northeast.
Friday will find the potential for scattered showers and storms developing during the afternoon and evening. These could impact a few high school football games, but shouldn’t be as widespread as last Friday.
The action begins to pick up late Saturday as our plume of tropical moisture inches closer from the southwest…
I’m hopeful we can get those to hold off until the very end of the day or the evening, but it’s going to be a very close call.
That surge of juice shoots in here with widespread showers and storms around for Sunday…
Additional rounds of showers and storms will be around for Labor Day…
Additional rounds of showers and storms may carry us into Tuesday as another cold front enters the picture. All of these storms over the weekend into early next week can put down a lot of rain and could cause issues. The European Model shows what I’m talking about…
Mets in Louisville saying this pattern may hold until at least mid September. Meaning that cool down most of us are waiting for is not in the long range forecast whatsoever. CB has been hitting on this warmer than normal pattern a few days ago also to hold into September. We’ll see, but I will enjoy every last bit summer has to throw at us these next couple weeks before sweater weather kicks in. And did I just say September? . How did that happen anyway?
I must have missed the discussion where the admission of the cooler pattern dying off happpened. Link?
At the end of *July*, MJ had already insisted the avg. to warmer than avg pattern would move into place and stay during this month and into Sept. “Signals” are an interesting predictor.
Also (below), I think that’s the third time I’ve seen Beth comment on cooler weather that I cannot find on any of my maps. Whatever reality she lives in, I wish she’d share some directions to a portal or something, as I’d like to enjoy it too. Hell, I’ll bring BBQ for everyone.
I have no idea on what you are talking about. Honestly… none! You accused me of hyping cool… did you sleep through the summer? How about the rest of the year? Perhaps the past 2 years? All these periods have been cooler than normal by a large margin! The cool pattern isn’t dying off… it’s a break. Who is this MJ person? Michael Jackson? Michael Jordan? Michelle Johnson? Regardless… Why would I care? The answer… I don’t. I understand there are plenty of people out there in my business who are totally obsessed with me. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to know so many care enough to stalk my forecasts. 🙂
MJ, CB you know who MJ is Magic Johnson duh
🙂
Let them have it Chris but Chris I really miss how you used to look down the road the fall and winter is just around the corner and ou are not saying much dont let these people change the Chris we all know and love you are the best out there and they all know it
I really think we know who MJ is…NWS Louisville forecaster and a good one at that, who has frequented this forum before, but it has been a while since I’ve seen any of his comments.
Well I’ll be didn’t know that MJ is a met for the NWS in Louisville.
Loving the much cooler weather for this weekend. It was predicted here first.
Ummmmmm…..Beth the weather isnt going to be much cooler for the weekend, temp wise a few degrees cooler, humidity wise its going to be very humid. Even with the temps being down 3 or 4 degrees you probably won’t notice with the extreme humidity.
I think Beth is being sarcastic. 😉
Jeff, i’m thinking your right didn’t catch on to the sarcasm it was to early in the morning when I responded to Beth’s comment now that I’m up and with it I do detect her sarcasm. lol
Is it to early to talk about November?
No, its never too early to be talking about January 27, 3016. I kid, but no, I would not say its too early to be talking about future months/seasons within a year
A foot of snow, a football game and a pot of chili sounds good about now.
Bring on the snow I say. Where’s your winter forecast Chris?
August isn’t even over yet. Too early for winter talk.
Not only did Bowling Green have a Severe Thunderstorm Warning, my in-laws there report some minor flooding.
Hope the “Egypt” parking lot at WKU has not flooded again ;), not to mention under the nearby railroad bridge.
…and sure enough, Flash Flood Warning in effect for Warren County, including Bowling Green 🙁 .
Meanwhile, a t-storm firing up here in Nashville. The Vandy football game here tonight against Temple could have a lightning delay.
