Good Tuesday, folks. Rounds of showers and thunderstorms have been rumbling across the bluegrass state over the next few days. This is just the beginning of a very active setup that is likely to lead to some hefty rainfall numbers in the coming days.
We have another disturbance swinging across the state today and this is touching off more showers and storms. A few of these could be hail and wind makers and I will have your tracking tools in a bit.
The setup for later this week into the weekend features a pattern leading to rounds of showers and storms pushing across our region…
The stalled out front should be right across our region with warm air to the south and cold to the north. Throw in a few areas of low pressure moving along the front, and you get rounds of showers and storms. Heavy rainfall continues to look likely during this time. The models are spitting out several inches of rain through Sunday…
Local amounts can be much, much higher because of thunderstorms. This could lead to local high water concerns during this time.
Another storm system is likely to move our way early next week with more heavy rain and thunderstorms.
I have you set to track today’s boomers…

Have a great day and take care.
when are we going to see our first snow of this year
Think mother nature is giving us a hint at where the storm track’s may me this winter???…
Took of a couple of days off for a relaxing time on my boat at Green River Lake and it has stormed since we got here. Big hail this morning about 4:00 eastern that put holes in some vinyl boat covers.
I swear that I’ve heard more thunder in the last 24 hours than in the previous 2 months. Glad to have the rain though, reservoir was down further than I’d like to see.
Interesting storm structure in southwest Indiana. Has a history of covering ground with small hail in Mt Carmel IL just across the Wabash river. Keep an eye on that one.
Love this pattern! Quite unusual for October, but it’s great to see things getting active again. Won’t be long before we start talkin’ about snow showers in the extended.
SNOW coming in OCTOBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!
From the S
Don’t know what happened there…Ok, from the SPC, rotating storms with all hazards including isolated tornadoes expected, especially if additional instability can occur.
For this time of year, I prefer some sunny cool days, some dark dreary or rainy days, but tornado/severe storms…..No thanks….
Nice hook echo NW of Louisville.
This time of year sometimes is known as the “second severe weather season.”
Yes, including tornadoes, even stronger twisters. This secondary season peaks in Nov. Think of the F4 that hit Madisonville KY in Nov 2005.
Even relatively rare outbreaks during the winter, like the 2008 Super Tuesday outbreak.
Looks like mainly a Northeast Kentucky and Ohio threat. I don’t know why Louisville was included in this watch? Maybe more storms later? If Louisville was included because of the storm now in Oldham County then they can go ahead and pull us from the watch.
Are there more storms coming after these ? Anyone know?
If you look at the radars there seems to be pop up showers forming over and over and some end up producing storms.
Accuweather has this type weather going on every day this week.Chris’s forecast seems to be stating the same thing.Saying several inches of rain possible the next few days…then another system the following week.
