Good Saturday and welcome to the weekend. October is normally a quiet and calm month for the most part around here. This October has been anything but that with rounds of rain and storms and even an historic tornado outbreak. Guess what? The active pattern continues and we could have another round of severe weather early next week.
There is a little bit of good news with a break in the rain for some today. Our front sags just a bit to the south and that may take the steady rains into Tennessee. That means some drying is possible into the afternoon and evening. The farther south you live, the greater the chance for showers today.
Current Temperatures
Scattered showers and storms work back in later tonight into Sunday with some locally heavy rains. Storms will really increase Sunday night and Monday well ahead of of a strong storm system. That system arrives late Monday into Tuesday…
This has the look of a severe weather maker and that is something we will need to be on guard for. The Storm Prediction Center already has much of the region in the slight risk for severe weather on Monday…
I will update that threat as we get closer. That’s also a lot of rain showing up that could lead to some high water issues.
It’s looking more and more like this system will become cutoff from the main flow for the middle and end of next week…
If that happens… nasty weather is a good bet with shower, chilly temps and gusty winds.
Have a great day and take care.
Can we not enjoy the week without worry chris?I mean when is this going to end?
When is what going to end?
i think he is referring to the wet and gloomy weather but i don’t know where he was at when we were being blessed with beautiful weather in august and september.
Will try to post today.Couldn’t post at all yesterday…..
Sounds a lot like what we had this past week. Not much rain here this morning.Just a couple of quick showers that were light but it is still misting.Temp is on 50 so it feels cool with the mist.Haven’t emptied the rain gauge for a couple of days but I noticed it was just above the 3 inch mark.I emptied it early in the week and there was almost 3 inches in it at that time. Not sure that is accurate but we have had some very heavy down pours.
Thanks for the heads up on the possible storms in the early part of the week.I hate storms but I feel a whole lot better knowing to be aware they are possibly coming.
I was thinking last month that it would likely start cooling in October but be a calm month before winter start.Strange times.
For the week, McKee has had over 4″ while other neighboring locations like Barbourville and Booneville have had over 3″.
same in wayne, wva…….since last friday when all of this began here in wva we have had around 2.50 inches of rain.
We most likely got well over 3 inches here.I just checked TWC for my area and it is showing 1.10 inches for yesterday and 4.60 inches for the past 7 days. That wouldn’t include today.
I am not use to having a rain gauge and decided to get one recently so I wasn’t sure how accurate it may be.I know when the showers would come it would absolutely pour down until it passed over.
Not looking forward to the possibility of storms.
Try to post again…wouldn’t allow it to post just now…
I just checked online site for my area and it is showing 1.10″ for yesterday and 4.60″ for the past 7 days. That wouldn’t include today.
Vitamin D weather is in full effect! Is anyone else needing to see just a few minutes of SUNSHINE in SE KY???? I think we’ve had one day out of 8. With this nice fall color coming on, it would be nice to enjoy it with the sunshine.
