Good evening, gang. The winds are finally calming down as colder air pushes back into Kentucky. This is nowhere near as cold as what we had last week, but that stuff was historic. This air will be cold enough to help give us the potential for some wintry weather.
Our big east coast winter storm looks to graze southeastern Kentucky with some snow on Wednesday. Here’s the area that has the best chance of seeing the flakes from that storm…
We will wait and see how the track of the low goes with that, but an eastern Kentucky impact is possible.
Another system dives in from the northwest Wednesday night into Thanksgiving morning. This will likely have a band of light snow along it, but I’m still not sure where that sets up. Here’s the best guess at this point…
Some light accumulations would be possible for some folks and that could impact travel.
A full update comes your way tonight. Take care.
Thanks for the update Chris! It looks like I’m barely in the best chance on Wednesday and Thursday storms here in Floyd county. Here’s hoping the nw shift happens on Wednesday and it shifts a little farther east on Thursday! Lol
Decent chance for some white stuff, but the question is how long it hangs around unless up in mountain areas. That far above freezing means a quick melt even if a few inches.
Nam trended a little more west on this run…Couple more shifts like this is what we need..Don’t think we will see anymore slight shift’s to the east…Let the West trend commence…
This might be one of those take a picture, it will last longer events.
watch for the westward trends….happens a lot with storms coming up the coast
Try this one on for confusion: For my region in far southwest VA (near the KY border), Morristown is forecasting highs in the upper 40s (to near 50) with all rain, late Tues. night through Wednesday, and no snow until Wed. night. Now, just across the border into Harlan County, Jackson is forecasting rain/snow mix for late Tues. night/Wed. morning, changing rain, then back to rain/snow mix, with highs Wed. in the lower 40s. Back in SWVA again…a difference from eastern Washington County to the border western part of Grayson County (from Morristown NWS to Blacksburg NWS) we have the same forecast as for my location with all rain, snow late Wed. night..highs in the upper 40s…to Grayson with mainly snow with accumulations.
I sense some confidence and balance in these forecasts, eh, haha.
