Good Tuesday afternoon. We’re seeing a nice temperature contrast from northwest to southeast this afternoon and that’s probably telling us something about the upcoming east coast storm. It’s arguing for a slightly farther west track and precipitation shield.
Right on cue, the 12z runs of the NAM and GFS did show the precipitation shield much farther west into Kentucky. This all begins later tonight as a surge of rain coming into southeastern parts of the state. As the storm cranks, temps fall and allow for rain and snow and just plain old snow.
The new GFS snow map shows accumulating snows…
You can also see the Wednesday night and Thanksgiving light snow maker impacting the west and southern parts of the state.
The NAM isn’t too far away from that…
Temps with both systems are marginal for much in the way of accumulations, so we will have to wait and see how that shakes out.
Regardless, the potential for accumulating snow from the east coast storm has increased for parts of eastern Kentucky.
I will have another update later. Take care.
We are watching Winchester VA very closely as we are supposed to leave tomorrow mornings. Looks like a very bad travel day.
Thanks for the update Chris. I count on you to keep me informed!
remember it’s the nam snowfall map.
cut your snow totals in half.
0 / 2 = ?
I guess it’s just bare bourbon barrels for 90% of us.
Not sure if it’s just me, but chris doesn’t seem that much “in” with snow , his words doesn’t seem that sold on it… says Temps are mathinall……?
Marginal
I will be happy with just a little snow or even just flurries for Thanksgiving. But I will certainly be here watching to see what is posted.
After all that wind we had I needed this beautiful day today.Just above 50 degrees and plenty of sunshine.
Thanks for the afternoon update Chris.
can someone please post at what the euro model is saying at this time?…….thank you.
have to admit im getting in the holiday mood, a few snow flakes would make it GREAT!!
low taking shape amnd backside looks to move futher west to me right now.
Nws gave special weather statement maybe even an advisory for late lonight for far eastern or southeastern counties
The nam is awesome it shows every county bordering Wayne with some snow but we’re just left out in the cold. I believe at this point we couldn’t buy snow if it were on sale black Friday at wal mart!
Upper level’s still look warm-ish…Surface temp’s blah also..Guess we will have to wait and see…
