Merry Christmas Eve Eve, everyone! Say that one three times. 🙂 Heavy rain is rolling across the bluegrass state and this is just ahead of a powerful storm that moves in over the next 24 hours.
Let’s review what it brings…
– Heavy rain with some thunder and lightning will be with us tonight. Watch for some local stream issues in the southeast.
– The low pressure works across the state Wednesday with a big temp spike and drop. More heavy rain is likely.
– Winds will be VERY gusty in the central and east with 40mph+ a good bet.
– Flurries and a few snow showers will then fly from west to east Christmas Eve into Christmas Morning.
Things clear up nicely late Christmas into Friday. The next cold front arrives with rain Saturday into Sunday. An area of low pressure develops along that late Sunday into Monday with the potential for rain or snow. The GFS has taken on more of a snow look…
Arctic air then sweeps in here as we close out 2014. The GFS…
The European Model…GFS Ensembles…
Have a great evening and Merry Christmas Eve Eve. 🙂
The way to keep your sanity during winter month’s is coming to the conclusion that we live in a place that suck’s for snow..Just look at the average snowfall’s for winter..Every once in a blue moon we can score a big one..It is what it is…
the models again from a week out was fools gold, maybe January can produce some decent snows?
I haven’t seen any fools gold the last couple days just plain ole rain.
this time last week we were talking about this storm , and it ended up rain…ok..that happens…but the sure bet was on arctic air arriving this week which apparently also isn’t gonna happen…..now the arctic air is supposedly gonna be here next week ….I wonder if that will materialize ..I think the mets are having a real hard time figuring this pattern out …im not singling out anyone , just as a whole
Need better models. There is enough cash to write code but nobody wants to spend it.
I hope we get snow soon! Merry Christmas everyone!
Thinking of back country camping in eastern Kentucky Sunday and Monday — Hoping for snow not rain … What do you think?
Here’s my thought – Take the models and week away forecast with a grain of salt, so many things can and usually do change…
Here’s an honest, not rhetorical question, how many week away storms have panned out in the last five years or so for central, south of the river, Kentucky?
Kids are out of school, so rain dude
Want a white Christmas? Head to Hawaii…
