Merry Christmas, everyone. I want to start out by wishing you nothing short of the greatest Christmas of all time. Anyone who knows me, knows I am a sucker for this time of year. I love everything about Christmas and hate to see it go.
In terms of the weather… nothing has changed with where we go from here. Some morning snow flurries will give way to afternoon clearing with temps in the upper 30s and low 40s.
.
Current temperatures
Friday looks great for travelling with more sun and pleasant temps. Saturday will be a day of change with increasing clouds and rain developing from west to east. That rain carries us into Sunday as colder air filters in. That cold air has a chance to switch the rain over to a mix or some light snow at some point Sunday night or Monday.
The new version of the GFS is showing this possibility…
The Canadian Model is in general agreement with a switch to snow on more of a grander scale…
The models then bring much colder air in here for the closing days of 2014 and the start of a brand new year. It’s a pattern that should feature a couple more southern stream systems getting involved later in the week.
Have a Merry Christmas and take care.
Merry Christmas everyone and to Patty in Versailles. My only Christmas wish is for some big snow. Tired of ankle biters.
First of TWELVE days of Christmas….and we end with Epiphany-the enlightenment….wouldn’t that be a most excellent time for SNOW!?? Blessings abound~embrace them!
Merry Christmas to Chris his family and everyone else out there in KWC land. Hope you all have a great day.
Merry Christmas everyone. May your days be filled with joy and peace. Blessings to you all.
Merry Christmas to everyone. Enjoy the nice temps tomorrow and Saturday.
Given what the weather is outside right now and the Mesonet data for overnight, if there were/are flurries most anywhere in Central KY, it would indeed qualify as a Christmas miracle.
I really, really wish I hadn’t looked outside. Time to Irish-up the coffee.
Print this out and paste on your windows and all will be well!

Merry Christmas anyways and everyone be safe out there. Still drizzling and roads are slick with water and some ponding.
Merry Christmas to you and your family Chris, and to all my fellow weather friends! I wish you joy, peace, and blessings. Make some great memories today! Chris I have to say I am like you in regards to Christmas. I love it and everything about it. Remember the reason for the season! MERRY CHRISTMAS friends!
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and the happiest of holiday seasons.
What wonderful, heartfelt messages from our fellow posters. Blessings indeed!
Merry Christmas! I too am a huge fan of Christmas and snow. God Bless you and your family. Thanks for all you do.
Every storm of interest that shows up a week out we lose. Up coming weekend system show possible potential no longer. Models have been horrible, yesterday storm was forecast to bomb out and be incredibly strong the low was strong but never got as strong as what the models were saying that really never took place. Accumulating snows on the backside of the low never took place. Earlier in the week Springfield Illinois places like Chicago forecasters were pretty confident of a moderate to heavy wet snow event from yesterday system (backside snows) that never transpired. A week or two out before Christmas all signs showing we would be turning to a cold and snowy pattern. That has yet to be seen. Moral of the story models have been absolutely horrible 2 to 3 days out let alone 7 days out. Models to me seem to be struggling more than usual trying to figure out the pattern for whatever reason.
It’s Christmas! Why worry about weather models, backside snows, or forecasts that didn’t pan out the way we wanted them? Just enjoy the day, spend time with friends and family, and be happy!
Big Papa, im sure you seen the movie Christmas Vacation, in-laws/family members yeah they’ve been here about 2 weeks I’ve spent enough time with the family. Time for them to go. I’ll see them next Christmas or next vacation. lol
Merry Christmas to all and Go Big Blue!

Rodger wishes everyone on this blog & Mr. Bailey a very Merry Christmas! He also wishes the models get a CLUE about the weather more than a few days in advance. Still waiting on the “coming cold and snow.” 🙂
Merry Christmas Chris and to your family and to all the loyal weather followers of Mr Bailey’s blog. Wishing for some good snows before all is set and done. God bless everyone(in Tiny Tim’s voice)

Merry Christmas…..Everyone and all…LD. loved your picture made me feel all warm and fuzzy….drink one of those Irish coffees for me…. I’m a McGrath!
Pretty “average” late December day around here. Cloudy—temps in the 40’s. December has been warm, but so was last December. I remember everyone complaining about how cold it had been by March, but last winter was not as cold as 2009-2010. Will be interesting to see if January and February are as cold as last year.
so the HARSH WINTER is a no go?? Bailey sure has back off his winter forcast.. luv u CB, hey mother nature can turn its back on a man in a split second..
I would be fine with that 🙂 Not hearing the met/media marketing term, “Polar Vortex” would be less nails on the chalk to me 😉
We have not really had any days that I would consider “cold” this month. Just a few days that even warranted going out to start the car to get the frost off. Last year wasn’t cold in December either, so that may not be a sign of things to come. I could really do without the cold this year. We had very little snow in the southern part of the state last year, so “cold” and no snow is not a good combo.
