Good Wednesday to one and all. We have another gorgeous weather day in the works across the bluegrass state of the Kentucky. This nice stuff isn’t going to last for much longer… Scattered showers and thunderstorms return to the forecast to start the upcoming weekend.
In the short term, it’s another great day out there. Upper 60s to around 70 in the north with 70-75 across the south and west under mainly sunny skies.
Clouds, temps and humidity levels will all increase into Thursday. That sets the stage for a nice flow from the Gulf of Mexico through the upcoming weekend. That means an increase in scattered showers and storms…
Temps this weekend will be mainly in the upper 70s to low 80s.
A strong cold front barrels toward the region late Monday into early Tuesday. That could have some rounds of strong storms out ahead of it…
MUCH cooler air will follow in behind that boundary for the middle and end of next week.
I didn’t think I would be saying this a few months ago, but it is getting fairly dry down here in Harlan Co. I have only had 0.04 hundredths of an inch of rain since April 26th. Although we had a wet April statewide, I missed the bulk load of the rain that most of Central and Eastern KY received down here at only a little over 5 inches in extreme SE KY during the month.
Haven’t commented in a while. I’ve been having the busiest month in my life and it keeps going until June. I still do read the blog, I just haven’t had enough time to comment. Anyways, it is beautiful out there today. It’s funny how 70s are cool and last month, 70s were warm. Even the 40s felt like the 70s and T-shirt weather when it got extremely cold this past winter. The way weather feels is always relative, as a natural-born Floridian, highs in the 80s is cool weather. It starts getting cold in the 70s in winter. I can deal with heat just as well as cold (like KY’s winter cold.) But since I like cold also, that’s why I rarely complain about the weather. If any weather I don’t like, it would include 100°+, “cloudy” days with cirrus clouds that tint the sun, and consecutive dry days.
Hi Israel,
I would have to say that the most irritating weather pattern in my opinion is those unusual stagnant weather patterns where Kentucky is on the edge of a cut-off upper level low that brings days and days of clouds but little if any precipitation as the main weather front stays a little too far away to bring rain or snow. For some reason, I hate cloudy days without precipitation, especially if there are many cloudy days in a row with no precip!
Thanks Chris! You are right. It’s a gorgeous day in Somerset! Temp is 69.6 inmy back deck. A cloudless blue sky! Loving it! Of course we could use a little rain too. We did get a little over half an inch when the storms rolled through on Monday. Ah well! I’ll take what we get! Have a great Hump day, everyone!
Hey guys, Quick question. My twins 7th birthday party is scheduled for this Saturday at 1 and it is at a park. Does it look like all day rain or scattered in nature. I am hearing 80% chance so I am concerned. Thanks!
