PREVIOUS DISCUSSION

Good Monday morning everyone. The heavy rains showed up across the region late Sunday and those will continue into early today before finally moving out later today. These rains have caused high water problems in many areas across southern and eastern Kentucky. We have had numerous reports of road closures and some evacuations.

The current radar shows the movement of the heaviest rains…

Now take a look at a rainfall estimate map that shows some very impressive totals…

The areas of deepest red across southern Kentucky is 5″+ of rainfall. Whitley and McCreary counties appear to have picked up the heaviest rains. The good news is that the heavy rain will continue to push off to our east pretty quickly today. A few leftover showers will still be possible…

This is a very active pattern we are back into now. It is one that will lead to several chances for showers and thunderstorms this week and some of the rain fall could be heavy. Look at what the NAM is trying to do for Wednesday into early Thursday…

That’s Ugly!

Help us out by posting any flood reports you may have where you live. I will issue updates as needed and will be using twitter to give updates and warnings as well. That is in the top right hand corner of the blog or you can sign up to follow me.

Take care.
