Good Saturday and welcome to the final weekend of June. Thunderstorms from the past few days have caused quite a few issues across the state. That action is finally moving away and is being replaced by a much cooler brand of air. Rejoice!
Highs today will generally run in the 70s, but could drop into the upper 60s for a time. Check out the strong northwesterly wind flow setting up behind our departing low…
That same flow will likely mean some scattered showers continuing into the afternoon and early evening. A few storms may still fire up early today across the east and southeast. Maybe even a strong storm or two?
Sunday starts very cool with low and middle 50s for many…
Afternoon highs will be in the mid and upper 70s with mostly sunny skies. Low humidity levels will help make this one of the nicest days of the year.
That nice stuff won’t last long as another system dives in from the northwest on Monday. Rounds of showers and storms will be possible…
That action will likely could hang around into Tuesday with highs into the upper 70s and low 80s.
Normal to below normal temps should carry us through the rest of the week and into the 4th of July weekend. That doesn’t mean all is fine and dandy… Rounds of showers and thunderstorms just won’t go away…
The threat for more heavy rainfall? At this point… we might as well just keep it coming. Not that we have a say in the matter. 😉
In the meantime, let’s track a rather late September-like day out there…
Have a great day and take care.
We didn’t have anything really bad in Lexington from these last 2 events, not even a lot of rain. But I guess that’s a good thing. Now, it is WILD to me that KSDF and KLEX both have an exact YTD rainfall of 30.75 inches as of right now. LOL!
I was thinking the same thing Marklex. For all the hype they got, we really didn’t get what I was thinking was on the way. Actually, Ive been enjoying hot weather. Afterall, it’s summer. We pool owners can actually get some return on our investment. So you cool weather lovers can go caving or get your summer home in Maine. Summers aren’t supposed to be this cool.
I like seasons to “feel” like they are suppose to as well! We have definitely been hotter this year than the past couple of years, but we have not endeared anything unbearable–just normal summer time weather. If you remember, the past two years were basically summer free. Pool owners could not swim much; produce did not grow well; and most of us dreaded the upcoming winter even more. Overall, I think most of the state might be three degrees above overall “average” June temps, big deal! I hope we continue to see some heat then I want fall and winter to be as they should too:)
Work in a hot factory all day where there’s no climate control and you will appreciate cooler summers.
We lucked out on severe weather from these systems. Had a couple of strong storms but nothin like what others around us got. I like summer to be summer, too. A couple of cool days is good but I. Not ready for autumn weather yet. I’m sure we will have more heat. Just hope it’s when it should be hot! Thanks Chris. Have a great Saturday everyone!
*squish squish* that’s the sound of the carpet in my apartment (Clarksville, In) this day….
It sure felt like a fall night Friday night and yesterday morning. The humidity is coming back but at a slow place. Beautiful day today though.
