Good Wednesday, folks. It’s another day of tracking thunderstorms and the potential for flash flooding. Torrential rains will continue to fall across much of the region, and with a soaked ground, it won’t take much to cause high water issues. Stop me if you’ve heard that one before!
Your tracking tools in a bit.
Scattered showers and storms will also be around on Thursday and Friday with highs in the 80s. Locally heavy downpours will be possible, again.
The weekend will likely feature a surge of very steamy temps as humidity levels go wild. High heat index values will have to be watched. Scattered storms will still be possible.
The setup changes late Sunday into early next week as a trough digs in across the eastern part of the country. That’s not a good thing because it likely means we get back into some big clusters of heavy rain producing showers and storms…
Flooding issues could become a problem once again. The core of the heaviest rains through next week continue to be centered right on top of us…
Temps have been running below normal for the past few weeks. After a shot of steam late week into the weekend, the CFS continues to run cool for the rest of July…

Have a great day and take care.
Looks like another stormy, exciting day…haven’t I said this before?
Will the rain ever end
This weather is just crazy. I’m trying to remember such constant overcast this time of year. The daytime lack of sun reminds me of Dec or Jan…I know last summer was wet and not horribly hot, but I don’t remember it being like this….
What’s up with mesonet, haven’t been able to access it in days..
Also, I’m tired of this pattern.
My biggest worry is that this pattern will continue until fall and then go straight into winter.
When is a break in the pattern in the next couple weeks? Got hay fields that need to be cut. What are your thoughts Chris?
I just wish moderation was more prevalent when it comes to the weather. We get locked in these patterns where it’s extremely wet for weeks/months. In all likelihood, whenever it flips it’ll be extremely dry for weeks/months..
A little weather history. Three years ago, the worst of a 2012 heat wave was letting up a bit but early July was still setting a few more records. At the end of June 2012, Bowling Green reached 110 degrees, just shy of the all-time high of 113 set in 1930. Nashville hit an all-time record of 109. While this wx may not have been much fun, at least 2012 was mostly a dry heat from what I recall.
But 2012 and other heatwaves don’t hold a candle to the summer of 1936. Much of the USA and Canada were torched that long long long Dust Bowl summer.

Our area was no exception. Everyday from July 8 to July 15 1936, Lexington hit daily records including an all-time high of 108 degrees. Louisville reached an all-time high of 107 on July 14. In some places, August was even worse and conditions did not finally improve until late September.
I remember seeing some records from the 1930s for both Kentucky and Tennessee that were in the low 110s for the older recording stations! You are definitely right; 2012 was not that hot compared to the 30s but it sure was hot compared to 2013, 2014, and 2015!
Has it been 40 days yet?
I’m thinking that you could just cut and past the forecast from one day to the next…
Gotta love dog days whether wet or dry! It seems like dog days are wet more often than not anyways.
Hilarious! Pulaski and McCreary flash flood cancelled….every other county in Kentucky under Watch :-p
We’ve been very lucky the past today’s here in my part of Pulaski Co. Just a little rain yesterday and none to speak of today, at least since I got up this morning. Just wish we could get some sunshine to go with the dry. I thought it was kind of funny too that the flood watch was cancelled for two counties while everything around them was still under a watch.
Chris think we see some sunshine yo go with the hot temps this weekend? If it’s going to be hot it might as well be sunny for a couple of days. Have a great evening everyone. Thanks for all you do Chris.
So far the heavy rains have missed frankfort area, .20 is it so far!
