Good Wednesday, everyone. Old Man Winter continues to send snow showers and squalls our way today, but the main focus in on where this pattern takes us into the coming weekend. A couple of snow makers appear to be in the making… One of which we will really need to keep a close eye on.
Temps out there today will top out in the upper teens and low 20s with snow showers and flurries rolling on. That action slowly winds down later this evening as a weak system pushes into western Kentucky. That should bring a period of light snow, but it really diminishes as it works into the area.
The next system is along an arctic cold front moving in here Friday into Friday evening. That should produce a swath of light snow for much of the region…
Gusty winds and arctic air surges in behind this. Temps by Saturday may not get past the upper teens and low 20s again. Lows by Sunday morning could hit the single digits…
This sets the stage for another system to dive in from the plains states. This will try to work across the Tennessee Valley before turning the corner up the Appalachian Mountains or the east coast. We’re still a few days away from figuring out how this whole thing plays out. The latest Models continue to show this system well.
Here’s the Canadian…
The European Model has a much more wrapped up storm…
Taken verbatim, that’s a healthy snowstorm for much of our part of the world. We still have a ways to go before we get to jacked up, but a nice signal continues to show itself.
I leave you with your Wednesday winter weather trackers…
I will have updates later today. Make it a good one and take care.
Keeping my fingers cross.
I don’t like how the EURO looks throwing the 540 way into Kentucky showing too much warm air, but the Canadian would favor a HUGE snow!
We need one more Big Snow before winter is over. Bring on the snow!!!!!!
I’m almost afraid to post after yesterday. Correct me if I’m wrong but the comment section is like a forum of sorts to discuss the posts, no?
Anyway, my disclaimer #1, I am NOT a meteorologist. Disclaimer #2, I always look to mr Bailey’s forecast to get the most accurate report.
Looks like we got quite the extra dusting from these clippers last night, of course my kids school didn’t cancel. Our family has shifted our attention to the Mon/Tue system in hopes we can finally use the new sleds I got them. My wife said I am to blame if we don’t get anymore snow because I bought the sleds after the last big snow. Surely my purchase wasn’t in vain? Come on snow makers, let’s get one more big one! Then we can move on to Spring and baseball season!!
Don’t worry about what others think. Post as you feel and never let political correctness run your life.
WARM AIR look to be a big player for V DAY/MON storm. mix/ice to all rain possible for big chunk of the area. join us at fans of Chris Bailey facebook page!!!
Nashville had some moderate snow this morning. True, I am getting tired of snow. But TWC was saying it was “river effect” snow from the Mississippi River. I’m aware that lake effect snow from huge Lake Erie has been tracked all the way to points like northern Alabama in years past. I am also aware that there are sometimes more localized river effect snows. The wind this morning is indeed blowing from about St Louis to Paducah (roughly along the irregular path of the Mississippi) to Nashville. If true Mississippi River effect snow is going that far southeast, fascinating (with apologies to Mr Spock) 😉 .
Whatever the case, that snow band has drifted to the south of Nashville and seems to be weakening a bit.
Brain cramp. I meant from Lake Michigan, not lake Erie.
Interesting links about river effect snow (the last link about a “lake” that is a dammed up river).

Well, not only is the website for NWS Wilmington OH (jurisdiction includes far northern KY) still down. So is NWS Charleston WV (includes parts of far eastern KY).
Indeed, NWS office sites from Ohio to New Jersey and Maine are all down.
Snow is coming down here in northern Clay county! Temperature is 17 degrees.
Experiencing the same in Harlan County as well… it looks like a snowglobe outside! It’s nineteen degrees where I am.
