Good Tuesday, folks. I’m going to keep this update rather short and to the point, since I think we’ve done a good job setting this pattern up over the past few weeks. Rounds of showers and storms will target the region over the next week and change.
The first round arrives later today then we will see more stormy action through Thursday. Any cluster of storms could be strong or severe with damaging winds the main player. Rainfall through this time could really add up for some areas. Here’s the NAM…
Another potent system brings more storms to the region this weekend. That could also create some strong storms and torrential rains.
The pattern looks ripe for additional big ticket storm makers over the next few weeks, and the models continue to key in on the heavy ran threat…
I’ll have updates as needed later today. Until then, let’s do some tracking…
Today’s risk area
Enjoy the day and take care.
Looking at Chris’ StormChaser map it appears the chasers are out and ready out West. It’ll be interesting to see if they have anything to track later on this afternoon/evening.
Huge bow on the radar just past St. Louis.
Severe Thunderstorm Watch just issued for along the Ohio River including southern parts of both Illinois and Indiana as well as western Kentucky. For this particular watch, strong damaging winds and large hail are the threats with the highest chances, a rather low if not zero tornado threat…….unlike in Kansas and especially Oklahoma and north Texas.
Yikes! I am not liking the looks of that line of storms coming toward the states from the west and north! Chris, glad we have you and the team on top of things! Thanks for all you all do. Everyone stay safe and keep your eye on the weather this evening and tonight! And, of course, on the weather blog and KYT.
Wow CB! You ain’t a kidding’ about this wind! It’s ferocious!!!
VERY heavy rain ATM
@ MCconnell’s Trace in northwest Lexington.
Same here in north Richmond.
