Good Friday, everyone. It’s another soaker of a system working into the bluegrass state. This will dump another round of heavy rains into Saturday across much of the region. I do have some good news showing up for next week… Temps are ready to take off!
Rain comes in from southwest to northeast and will become heavy at times this afternoon and evening. The best chance for heavy rain is across central and eastern Kentucky, where some rumbles of thunder will also be possible. Local high water issues will be possible.
Showers and gusty winds will hang tough into Saturday across the central and east. This is going to create a heck of a temperature gradient with some areas near 60 with some areas of the west hitting the 70s.
Much better weather rolls in for Sunday with some sun and 70s.
Temps then hit the 80s early next week…
Showers and thunderstorms will follow that up for the middle of the week…
The long range pattern for Memorial Day Weekend looks to feature VERY warm and humid weather with the threat for scattered showers and storms…
Make it a great Friday and take care.
Sure hope we get some beneficial rains here in east and south east Tennessee..we are in a moderate drought.and if we hit the 90s soon without rain! Gonna be bad!! Can’t believe how wet Kentucky is and how dry Tennessee is!!
Yeah there is no shortage of rain in the Commonwealth if there is I can’t imagine where it would be.
My parents in the Chattanooga/Cleveland TN area second this notion!
North-central Tennessee has been relatively dry as well, at least in recent weeks; Nashville was just over four inches below average for the year. Relatives in central Kentucky are a bit surprised to hear how relatively dry much of Tennessee is; interesting how there is a relative short distance between the haves and the have nots.
Anyway, Nashville’s BNA airport has picked up .92 inch rain so far today, not bad although it appears the heaviest rain has been just to the north.
I am liking the warmer temp idea but not heavy rain. It will be nice to see a couple of dry days. As long as the Memorial Day weekend is not a washout I think it will be fine. But first we must get through today and tomorrow…. Have a great Friday everyone. Thanks Chris, for everything you do.
