Good Wednesday, folks. Steamy and stormy weather is back in full swing across our part of the world. This summer setup has been with us for the better part of the past 10 days, but it’s about to change in a hurry. Much cooler air is on the way, and it’s being ushered in by more rounds of showers and storms.
Highs today will be in the mid and upper 80s, with an outside shot at a 90. High humidity levels will fire off some scattered showers and storms, especially in the afternoon and evening.
Storm chances increase on Thursday as a cold front nears the region. This action will stick around into Friday as temps come down into the upper 70s to around 80.
From there, another system develops over the weekend with additional showers and storms a good bet…
Temps will mainly be in the 70s this weekend, and that sticks into the first half of next week. This air mass is well below normal for much of the eastern part of the country…
There should be some recovery in temps toward the end of next week, but the GFS Ensembles show another cool shot lurking for the middle of the month. Check out the 5 day average departure…
Make it a great Wednesday and take care.
Meteorological summer is here! 🙂
The thing that surprises me at this point is that Lexington is actually running a small deficit on rainfall compared to normal so far this year.
Rain YTD: 18.29″
Normal YTD: 19.33″
Of course if this summer is like the past few ones, that deficit will get wiped out in a hurry.
Impossible, we’ve been in a wet pattern since March 1st! (jk)
Hi Chris, wanted to let you know I haven’t received an email from the blog since May 28th. I checked my WordPress account settings and my spam folder – all as expected.

Sorry for the double comment!!!!
Today was the hottest day of the year in Lexington and now the rain is on the way. The average first 90 degree temp isn’t until June 14th. I would say we go past that before reaching 90 this year.
