Good Wednesday, my fellow weather weenies. We continue to track rounds of strong and severe thunderstorms taking aim at the bluegrass state. This action rolls on out there today and will carry us through our Thursday.
I have no real changes on what to expect. We have to watch the northwestern sky for clusters of strong to severe storms diving into central and eastern Kentucky today, similar to what the NAM is showing…
Damaging winds will continue to be the primary threat. The potential for a more severe weather is there for Thursday as a line of thunderstorms develops and drops in from the north…
Damaging winds continue to be the main severe weather threat with all the storms that blow through here. Torrential rains are also likely, and this could cause local flash flooding. Some areas of the region picked up several inches of rain on Tuesday. It won’t take much to cause more flooding woes.

Looking farther down the road, temps this weekend will take off with low and middle 90s possible. Humidity levels will make it feel hotter than that.
Storms then drop back in here early next week with temps coming back down.
I will have the latest on the severe threat on WKYT-TV. Have a great day and take care.
Woke up around 10am, noticed it was DARK out there! Right now, a LOT of lightnings and a very heavy downpour.
Hard to believe it has already been five years since Louisville had its series of tornadoes on June 22 2011. Although the twisters were relatively weak, the outbreak was made somewhat more noteworthy when Churchill Downs received some damage. Thankfully, there was no loss of life.

Fortunately, summer tornadoes in Kentucky and Tennessee don’t tend to get much worse than this as our peak tornado months are during the spring. Today’s highest tornado threat is well to the north of us although a widely isolated twister is not out of the question, especially for northern KY. But as CB touched on, threats like damaging winds and flooding will be the main issues.
Remember that cool pattern? Good times.
