Good Wednesday, everyone. July continues to absolutely bring the storms to the bluegrass state. This soggy setup actually started back in late June, but July has ramped it up a notch. This stormy setup looks to roll on through the next week and change, at least.
Tuesday’s storms dropped some incredible rain totals. Parts of western Kentucky picked up better than 5″ of rain. Locally heavy rainfall continue to be my main concern as we roll through the next several days. Scattered storms that go up out there today can cause some local high water issues.
Track away…
A cold front enters the picture on Thursday with the potential for some strong storms during the afternoon and evening. Local severe weather can’t be ruled out, but heavy rainfall is still the main threat.
The heavy rain threat may really ramp up Friday into Saturday as a wave of low pressure develops along the front…
We could catch a bit of a break this weekend, if the front slips a little farther to the south. After this, the pattern may try to throw some thunderstorm complexes our way from the northwest. The European Model is hinting at this early next week…
Have a great day and take care.
The Weather channel is saying a major heat wave is forecast for the middle of next week. Majority of U.S will be under this heat wave, as long it’s not a prolong one we will be ok. Time will tell if this comes to a fruit.
Yeah I’ve heard rumblings about this upcoming coming heatwave beginning mid-next week. There is a lot of support from most of the models that this will occur. As CB has said before this is not the first time the models have been screaming heatwave. If the heatwave does occur it will be plenty hot here but it’s looking like the real core of the heat will be just to our west. The Midwest and Plain states will be roasting.
Hi all,
I want to apologize for the way I acted the last time I left a comment on this blog. I was in a bad mood over something completely unrelated to anything that’s been posted here, and I’m afraid I took that out on someone (Shawon) who didn’t deserve it. Please accept my apologies.
I still check the blog often, as it’s the best source out there for Southeastern Kentucky weather. My local stations are out of Tennessee due to the whole market thing, but I’ve always believed that they care little, if anything, for the Kentucky counties they’re legally obligated to cover.
Keep up the good work, Chris. Again, my apologies to Shawon and anyone else I may have offended.
I don’t remember your comment so I guess your apology is accepted! 🙂
It was definitely aimed toward you; I can’t remember exactly what I replied, but I know it wasn’t pretty. I remember drought talk was involved as well (specifically drought in eastern / southeastern Kentucky).
Regardless, I really am sorry. I promise I am not normally that nasty! I hope all is forgiven.
Only person I remember being offensive on here was Bryant the Blowtorch winter time prophet from 2 winters ago. There have been others but Bryant at least for me took home “The Most Disrespectful Blogger Award”.
Yep – I remember Bryant, but there was also wxman. Both would have comments at times I would enjoy reading. If I remember correctly, they both knew their weather really well, but could be disrespectful at times. I’ve heard that storm chasers and roller coaster enthusiasts tend to be very arrogant.
Oh yeah I forgot about Wxman he also would rattle some cages.
The storm front appears to be dying as it approaches Louisville.
Yup, wind shear was much better west of I-65.
