Good Sunday, my fellow weather weenies. We are wrapping up a typical hot and humid weekend in the bluegrass state. Steamy temps and scattered storms will soon give way to a pattern featuring storms, storms and more storms. Sound familiar? That setup has been the king of the summer.
Today is likely to be what I consider an above normal “hot” day. Readings can hit 95 in some locations, even outside the ridiculous airport thermometers. Scattered storms will develop with some locally heavy downpours and frequent lightning.
The storm action increases over the next couple of days, and a few of the boomers could be strong. This trend of increasing showers and thunderstorms carries us through the rest of the week into the coming weekend. That’s when we get a nice trough digging into the region…
That should be able to spawn a healthy storm system across the Ohio Valley. The Canadian has it…
So does the GFS…
Given the setup over the next week and change, don’t be surprised if we don’t see some local high water issues develop on occasion.
I recently threw out some winter weather thoughts, and talked about how the forecasts for some raging La Nina were likely overblown. There is some question if we can even get a La Nina to form. The latest CFS forecast shows a borderline weak event this fall and winter…
If we only get to a weak Nina, there are some heavyweight winter analogs showing up.
I leave you with your storm tracking tools…
Make it a great day and take care.
So, yesterday, I noticed several locations had higher temps, higher dew points, higher humidity outside the heat advisory than did inside the heat advisory. But, this is at airports.
I just received my power bill. 177 dollars! The price I pay for keeping my AC on 70F!!
And it’s worth every penny!
It really is prelude!
After the ice storm and being without power for 7 full days, I said I would never EVER complain about my power bill again. And although I don’t like high bills, it is worth every penny. Without power, it makes everything else seem so insignificant. You can’t do ANYTHING. Lord help us if our power grid ever does. We are all so blanked if that happens.
I get much better results running ac on high during the night and then backing off to 75 during the day, then a short burst at dinnertime for the evening. Depends on your amount and type of insulation (e.g. window film) and tree shade as to what’s most effective.
Yes, losing power in weather like this for me is much worse than in winter. I can live without electric in the winter when it happens but lawd don’t be takin’ my AC.
LD – in this type of weather, I wonder if it even matters if the temp is set to 70F or 75F, because it’s going to run constantly during the afternoon in these types of temps. I guess it could possibly cycle off briefly a few more times, but not much. I see what you mean, since it’s pretty much going to run anyway, bump it up, then at night turn it down where it will still be cooler in the house for sleeping, but at the same time, will still cycle off more. At least, I think that’s what you’re saying.
I keep mine at 70 and I could careless how many times my A/C turns on or off as long as I’m comfortable that’s my bottom line lol
Will only get worse if Clinton gets elected..
Yes…..we were so much money ahead when the last republican simpleton was running things. What kind of moron are you?
What kind of Moron are you??….You do know coal use to supply your lights and AC??..But the Dems want you to subsidised wind and solar..What a joke..When your Electric hits $700.00 a month we will see who the moron is..LD if your comment was aimed at me then you should just disappear..You babble on and make no sense what so ever..Surprised bailey has not banned your sorry a$$ all ready..
I don’t give a flying fascinating unusually cantankerous kilobyte what your political affiliations might be, go back to the WKYT comment section and keep that crap out of here.
My power bill can be 3 times as much in the winter as it is right now in the summer if temperatures are below normal.
Anyone else feeling like it’ll be a mild winter? I don’t mind..it would be a nice break on my heat bill lol
Waiting on storms like…..
