Good Wednesday to one and all. We have a VERY slow-moving front right on top of the region. This is leading to additional rounds of heavy rain producing showers and storms. Another front shows up in a few days, with more heavy rains, but the better news is what’s coming behind it… A taste of late September.
Today’s showers and storms can cause local flash flooding across the region. The greatest threat is across centralย parts of the state. Your trackers in a bit.
The front checks up just to our south on Thursday with a smaller chance for scattered storms. That threat may increase a bit as we kick off another high school football season on Friday…
Showers and storms will really increase this weekend as a very strong cold front marches in from the northwest…
That could bring some potent thunderstorms and torrential rains to our area.
The air behind this front should send our temps well below normal by late Sunday into Monday…
As a matter of fact, highs for much of next week will range from the upper 70s to lower 80s. Overnight lows by Tuesday and Wednesday may drop deep into the 50s…
Odds favor another strong cold front diving in from the northwest by late next week. The CFS likes this cooler pattern into early September…
Some winter talk in the coming days. ๐
For now, it’s all about your tracking tools…
Make it a great day and take care.
Thanks Chris. Haven’t been posting lately but have been reading. (Sorry, new grandbaby takes precedence over even you Chris! ๐ )
Don’t mind a little less humidity but not ready for September to get here just yet. I’m still enjoying wearing my shorts and flips. Looks like a pattern change may be lurking….just want the weather to stay nice for a while longer. But seasons change, so I guess its time to start thinking about that and the upcoming winter as well. Have a great “Hump Day” everyone. Thanks again Chris for all you do.
I saw pic of you holding that beautiful new Grandchild Congratulations they are wonderful.
On the weather I feel a little cool in the evening air we sit out at night.I love this time of year.I guess it’s soon time to pull out the long sleeve clothes.
A little cool in the evening air? Where you located? I sit on my porch sweat to death because of the ridiculously high dew points and get eaten up by mosquitos. lol
Congrats, Coffeelady! My folks love being grandparents to my brother’s kids. Indeed, my parents joke that if they knew having grandkids would be so wonderful, they would have had them first! ๐
Now that my sister had her wedding earlier this summer, all my siblings and I are married so probably a lot of grandkids on the way!
Again, congrats Coffeelady!
A nice shower hitting Richmond as I type this
This summer is the wettest summer that I can recall, looking forward to the cooler temps next week.
thanks for all the hardwork year long. curious on your early winter thoughts
Storm Prediction Center is saying there is a 60% chance of a watch (perhaps Severe Thunderstorm Watch) being issued for far eastern Kentucky as well as for West Virginia.
A couple of Tornado Warnings have already been issued for southern Ohio and near Charleston WV, although the SPC says the tornado threat still remains relatively low.
