Good Saturday, everyone. We have a rather stormy day taking shape across the Commonwealth of Kentucky. These storms are ahead of a strong cold front, bringing a blast of September air to the region over the next few days. Yippee!
Before I get started, I’m thinking of doing some forecast videos for the blog. Is that something you guys would want to see? Just leave a comment and let me know.
Today’s storms could be a bit on the strong side, especially if we can get some sun ahead of the front. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before… these storms can also cause some local high water issues. Sigh. Your tracking tools in a bit.
Sunday starts damp and gray, but ends with brightening skies from west to east. Humidity levels tank with highs generally in the mid and upper 70s…
A northwesterly wind will continue to blow cooler than normal temps in here for the first few days of next week…
Look at how Monday Morning starts out…
The very nice air sticks around into Tuesday, but there are now indications we could see scattered storms return as early as Wednesday. This is ahead of another front dropping in by Thursday and Friday…
Looking farther down the road to late next weekend into early the following week, we find some pretty big differences in the models. The GFS is drunk on hurricane joy juice…
The funny thing about the GFS is, several runs have looked just like that one over the past few days.
The European Model is sober as a church mouse, but has another deep trough digging into the Ohio Valley…
The Canadian Model is somewhere in between, but has a healthy system off the southeast coast…
Again… slow your roll on believing any model from this far out. But, we are a weather blog and those are cool to check out from time to time.
Here are your Saturday storm trackers…
Make it a great day and take care.
Chris, including forecast videos would be a great addition to the blog. I would love to see some “seasonal content”, maybe focusing on some of the tools and/or methods used to produce your analog models! Thanks for all the work you put into the blog…it’s appreciated!!
This!
Please make the videos from an instructional standpoint.
It will allow differentiation from the general WKYT forecast and the brief text of the daily posts here.
Additionally, I know you take being wrong REALLY hard sometimes (and we don’t make it much easier to be honest), but something like this used to do a post mortem on a significant forecast that went sideways or something that happened that was wholly unexpected (ice storms in SE KY for example) . On the flip side, you can also use it to take a victory lap in explaining how you nailed something that the NWS or REASONable others who missed it without really needing to call them out.
Keep the graphics and video usage to a minimum or it will quickly turn into a burden rather than a fun thing to do or abuse some interns to help you.
Oh, also maybe solicit questions from the community the day before and pick a couple to answer in the video as this is a common building/feedback technique that usually works well.
Chris – a big fat YES!! I’ve always wanted you to do this from the early days. I think most of your blog viewers would LOVE this 🙂
Yes..me as well, I think years ago he did one.and it was a huge hit then..I’m sure it will be a great addition to the blog, especially since snowflakes will be flying soon!

Try it and see how it goes – both for you and for us. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Yes. The forecast videos would be very cool.
Thanks!
Would love to see video forecasts which would definitely enhance the blog.
Yeah let’s see some vids!
Definitely a big YES on the video forecasts, especially during the winter months and severe weather months ( which could be any month) 😉
As far as today and the next few, I just want yo get the yard mowed. Have a great Saturday everyone, and a big Thank you Chris, for all your hard work for the blog and your fellow weather weenies. We love and appreciate you!
Good Morning from the CRW! (Actually, Teays Valley!) Would love to be able to log in and catch “The Bailey Daily” forecast in video form! (Or Your Forecast in :40 or Weather Watchers} Thanks for keeping me in the know for KY weather! I have a son at UK (and a son at WVU)! Best wishes for continued success!
Video blogs would be awesome, I watch Brian Goode’s video blogs all the time. I’ve always wanted you to do video blogs, they can be a little more in depth, especially for the winter season.
You are my number 1 weather guy, I just keep up with Brian because of the videos.
We actually lucky to have Chris in Lexington and Brian in Louisville. Love hearing the upcoming thoughts.
Vídeos would be great!
YES YES YES on video blogs!
I’d love to see videos. Id like to see informal videos where Chris just talks about the weather. It doesn’t have to be like the daily tv spots. Maybe he can go into a deeper explanation of whatever is happening in the weather world at the time.
Yes! That would be awesome.
Aye, lad. Do it!
A big yes to the videos. The first I think should be on Hurricane joy juice lol.You are too funny.I do appreciate how much time you put in on the blog and work.
Yes on videos – and lots of snow this winter!
Yes I would love to see a forecast video for the day. Otherwise I have to go elsewhere to find one 🙁
A big “Yes” to the videos!
I really enjoy reading your blog, especially the quips and humor your throw in along with the BEST weather forecasting around, but videos are good too.
Yep
Yes to the videos.
I enjoy anything you do Chris, I wouldnt care if it was literally a circus act…maybe do some periscoping
I read your blog first thing in the morning. Really I don’t see how you keep it up. The effort has to dig into your time. It is appreciated. My concern on the videos would be only from the perspective of your personal energy drain. I would be disappointed if you burned yourself out. Let’s do a trial run.
A local guy does a nice job with his weather videos here in Louisville, informative and explanatory. I’m sure your forecast videos would encounter a similar response, probably better since your following is more vast.
btw, tremendous amount of rain has fallen across parts of southern Jefferson County within the last hour. At one time, a rainfall rate of 7.68″/hr was registered at one of the metered locations close to Okolona. In Valley Station at my house and surrounding locations, anywhere between 1.72 – 2.25″ has fallen, most within the last hour. Even gave the dog a bath, since the rain barrel was spouting rain like a waterfall.
Yes! Please do videos. I read your blog every morning. It is so appreciated, especially, during the winter time for Southeastern KY. You are always spot on! Thanks for all that you do!!
I love the idea!
Oh yes! To videos, that is.
