Good Monday, everyone. We are now in full blown POT OF CHILI ALERT mode! This is not a drill!! You should immediately head to your local grocery store and stock up on all chili making ingredients. Just make sure to tweet me a pic of what ya got cookin’.
A strong fall cold front is working from west to east across the state today. Some gusty showers and thunderstorms will be along and ahead of this front, but don’t expect a whole lot of rain. We may see a greater than 20 degree difference on either side of this front, with temps dropping through the 60s later this afternoon.
Readings by Friday morning will drop into the 40s.
Upper 60s to low 70s will be common for highs on Tuesday as we watch a potent upper level low drop in here from the northwest on Wednesday. That system is likely to cutoff right on top of the region and could hang around a while. The European Model keeps this system through next Monday…
That type of pattern would bring lots of showers and chilly air.
The European shows the showers beginning to develop on Wednesday…
Now, watch the action really crank up from Thursday through Saturday…
I’ve seen similar upper lows this time of year produce enough clouds and showers to keep highs in the 50s. Even without clouds and showers, temps are going to struggle to get out of the 60s.
Ya gotta love this time of year! I’ll be looking for your chili tweets later today and throughout the week. Make it a great Monday and take care.
I love chili even if it’s 90 outside, but in any case I am excited to see huge changes in the weather.
Finally a true taste of fall
Welll on the flip side of the coin we should be in the 80’s by next week.
I forbid this from happening.
Prelude, the way this pattern is in wouldn’t be surprise to see 90 again.
I love this time of year at the weather blog.I got my fixings Chris last time I was at the store. It is time to decorate for Halloween.I noticed out west on the interactive radar 33 degrees in some areas of the west I said wow.Chris I have heard so much talk but I take it with a grain of salt on a warmer or above average winter what are your thoughts?
Thanks Chris. Ready for a nip in the air and bring that pot of chili!
ahhhhhhh! That is my deep exhale.
It feels AWESOME outside!
the Pot of Chili ALERT makes me chuckle Chris.
It’s 61 degrees here and when I step outside in a bit I know even though I have a jacket it is going to be a LOT cooler than I am expecting. Not looking forward to it.
I love winter talk. Here’s another met’s take on this winter for southern Indiana: southernindianaweather.com
Thanks Chris. Looks like fall weather is heading our way. Was a beautiful morning, but now we have clouds and the rain is not far away, looking at the radar. Guess its time for it to cool off, seeing as how October begins at the end of this week…still can’t say I’m ready to see the warmer temps gone. I know I’m in the minority on this one, but, after vacation I may feel differently. The biggest drawback
to me, is that the days get so doggone short and we lose so much daylight. In any event, it is what it is, and I love all seasons, so its 99% good anyway. 😉 Have a great Monday everyone.
I’ve been reading a lot of various winter outlook columns, most of them has Ohio valley region as cold and snowy pattern starting late December thru March. Hmm!!!
Quite odd to see a reading of 66 degrees on my car therometer at 2:15pm it’s usually at this time of day in the upper 80’s lower 90’s.
Wow, it completely died.. We aren’t going to get a drop out of this. #dry
Reminds me of winter where the dry air overcomes the precipitation and poof it’s gone
Here’s to hoping that the upper low is a little more vigorous with the rainfall…if not, I will record less than 2 inches monthly for September in my neck of the woods on top of a below average August monthly total!
Nope I’m not ready … our weather has been so crazy my tomatos r growing great finally I’ve got beans in my garden…. and I want to stay swimming in my pool a little while longer please !!!!!!
