Good Wednesday, everyone. We have some ugly weather rolling into the region for the next several days. This will bring some cool to chilly afternoon highs, and rounds of gusty showers and thunderstorms. All of this from an upper level low cutting off across the region.

Today will start dry with showers and thunderstorms quickly increasing. Winds will be very gusty as a cold front slams in here with temps dropping into the low 60s by late afternoon. Follow along…

Additional rounds of showers and thunderstorms will spin across the region from Thursday through the first half of Saturday. This can lead to some locally heavy rains. You can actually see the spin show up on the likely overdoneĀ NAM rainfall totals through Friday…

Daytime highs will be on the cool to chilly side with low and mid 60s a good bet. A few spots may see highs stay in the upper 50s on any day featuring wall to wall clouds and showers.

The upper low pulls away Saturday night, leaving better weather for Sunday into early next week. From there, this pattern is taking on a very extreme look. We’re likely to see a big cold shot diving into the country by the middle and end of next week. At the same time, Matthew will likely be coming out of the Caribbean toward the eastern Gulf or off the southeastern coast.

The GFS is much faster than the European Model with a possible impact centered on the east coast early next week…

The European is more toward the end of next week but shows a similar trough digging in and potentially interacting with the tropical system…

That’s a wicked looking setup.

Have a great day and take care.
