Good Monday, everyone. As hard as it is to believe, we have are in the final week of October. The fall colors are showing off across the bluegrass state, but gusty winds are going to do a number on them. These gusty winds will be ahead of several cold fronts tracking toward Kentucky.
A weak front is sliding by to our north, introducing slightly chillier air. Temps by Tuesday morning should drop into the 30s across central and eastern Kentucky…
Frost is a good possibility in these areas.
Winds will be very gusty through the week as another cold front moves in on Thursday. That will produce gusty showers across the area…
Patchy frost will be possible again by Friday morning. Another system will then arrive over the weekend, and bring some scattered showers. The GFS:
Canadian…
Temps ahead of it may hit 70 degrees, before crashing down into the 50s for Sunday. Lows by Halloween morning may be close to a freeze…
As of now, Halloween looks dry and windy with highs in the 60s.
If you’ve been reading this thing lately (and why wouldn’t you? :)), you know I’ve been talking about the potential for winter getting off to a fast start.
The CFS is going right toward a winter look as we get into November. Watch how the trough starts to deepen across the eastern part of the country…
That’s a pretty good look for winter weather lovers, even for the middle of November.
Make it a great day and take care.
Maybe we’ll see a few inches of snow in November!
I approve this message. Bring on the freeze so all the nasty critters die off.
Yeah! Plus, the trees are pretty ugly this year and need to go ahead and shed…at least here in SE KY…not that bright at all down here:/
I know what you mean, the colors are so dull this year. I always enjoy the fall beauty but this year everything seems to be drying up on the tree or if they are turning at all, they are a very muted color. Kind of like waiting for the big grand finale at the fireworks show to find out they aren’t having one.
It was too dry down this way but some of the pictures in central and west KY look decent..ready for snow to cover this ugly up myself, but if not, I want complain about the nice temps unless it continues past Thanksgiving!
Ready for the wishcasting from the SEKY folks.
Same with the rain at this point.
Our family eagerly anticipates some robust snow storms.
Winter time a coming..
Good to see ya rolo! Think we will see a blockbuster this winter?
old school storm 🙂
I get my weather from real meteorologists.
I’m excited about the weather changes that will be coming up. Do you realize it’s 2 months til Christmas!…. WHAT!!! Chris talks about the analogue of the year 1995 and I have been trying to remember what kind of winter that we had in eastern Kentucky that year. I’m thinking that we had a big snow, several inches . I may be wrong. Anyone else remember?
Highest seasonal snowfall in many areas since the 70s and more than 2014-15 in most of KY! I remember Harlan had several decent snows with a season total over 50 inches in the valley…no one blockbuster storm but many several inch events with a lot of school missed that year. I think the worst storm was January blizzard with northeast KY getting way over a foot and near a foot for many…this is 95-96 winter and not the 94-95 winter.
