Good Wednesday, folks. Here’s hoping the blog finds you enjoying life to the fullest. In terms of the weather, what’s not to like about the pattern we’ve been in? As we roll ahead, there is still more nice than ugly as we get ready to close out October. After that, I make no such promises. 🙂
Temperatures today will spike into the low 70s on a VERY gusty southwesterly wind. This is ahead of a cold front arriving on Thursday with scattered showers and a rumble of thunder…
Winds could reach 30mph at times as cooler air filters in. It’s possible to see some mid and upper 30s across the central and east by Friday morning.
Milder winds will then blow into the weekend with the low 70s by Saturday. The weekend front now looks to stay just to our north…
Temps for Sunday into Halloween will come down just a bit, but nothing like what the recent models had been showing. Things look really good for trick or treating.
Changes continue to show up as we get into November. The first week shouldn’t see very much change, but that ramps up as we roll closer to week two. The long range GFS is now starting to pick up on the changes the CFS has been showing…
That’s for November 6-8. Following that, the GFS really trends colder…
I show these because they match what the indcies show, and what the seasonal models indicate should happen around the same time.
Have a great day and take care.
It appears upper 70s and maybe 80 degree weather coming back to SE KY with no rain in sight to close out October on a continued above note…fire seson getting ready to ramp up???
I’m not buying anything long range at the moment, a few weeks back the long range models was showing one heck of a system around Halloween. That’s not happening, a week or so back most mets saying were done with high temps hitting the 80’s well now that’s in jeopardy. It’s looking possible that some record high’s and record low high’s may fall. I bet I see a 80 degree high in November in my neck of the woods before I get my first frost of the season.
My thoughts exactly! Story already starting……models show cold and storms a week or two out, but as time comes near they drop them…seems to be the moral of our weather around here!! BUT, I am a warm weather gal, so I am cool with that really 😉
Thelma Lou feels the “cold” temps may stay a week or two away for a while longer; Like maybe until January. She says the pickle brine suggests a warm winter with the exception of about a 14-20 day stretch.
Similar to last year and typical of most modern KY winters. I am hoping for a 2014-15 repeat or better but not expecting it for this upcoming season.
Stick to real weather forecasters.
I do but even Chris hasn’t laid out a full winter forecast this year…the models are terrible lately as the more tech advanced we get, the worse it seems that data inputs are skewed! Even the mid-range forecasting seems more inaccurate lately let alone long range.
Global warming coming again! No sign of fall anywhere!
Chris what you think about this no fall insight
Chris everyone is saying that the long range we should not trust that because it’s not doing good this year someone just text me back and said we might see a little snow this winter but we sure are not going to see the cold and snow anytime soon
Long range forecasting is not very accurate never really has been don’t matter if it’s this year or ten years ago. In my opinion forecasting anything 7-10 days out can get real murky and tricky. I said it once I’ll say it again I’m not a fan of long range computer model driven forecasts.
I’ll let the real weather forecasters let us know what the weather will.be. Everyone has an opinion, but some people go way to far lol
Analog 83-84 showing up a lot..If i remember right cold started early..Believe also the previous winter was a El Nino..Can’t remember much about snowfall..Maybe someone else remembers the 83-84 winter..
