Good Tuesday and welcome to November. We are beginning the month with the potential for record highs across much of the bluegrass state. These temps are about to go bye-bye as a cold front drops in on Thursday. This begins a slow transformation in our overall pattern that kicks into high gear toward the middle and end of November.
Highs today and Wednesday will range from the upper 70s to low 80s. Some clouds will be noted and that can have local impacts on temps. There is even a small shower chance in the east.
The cold front blowing in on Thursday will have gusty winds and a decent shot of showers and thunderstorms…
Temps fall into the 50s by the afternoon as the front swings through here. The numbers behind that front continue to come down. Check out the GFS forecast…
This weekend will feature readings in the 60s for highs, with low 70s in the far west. Overnight lows can drop into the 30s. Overall, it looks like another great weekend.
The European Model is picking up on changes late on Election Day into the middle of next week. Watch this upper level system close off right on top of us…
That’s a pocket of cold air pushing into the region…
If the upper levels are correct, I would think we get a bigger storm system to develop than what we are seeing on the model. The GFS is picking up on a similar setup with a bigger storm…
As we move into this transitional phase, expect lots of big model swings in the coming days.
Make it a great day and take care.
I live with the model swings as long as we start to get SOME precip. For the month-to-date, I recorded .79 at my house 3 miles east of Harlan. I have not recorded a monthly total less than an inch since at least 2007!
“I can live” I swear, you can’t type anything on a phone without auto correct or skipped words messing up your post…lol
Louisville broke 2 records today 84 degrees for the record high temp and then took it to the next level and hit 85 degrees to break all time record high ever recorded for the month of November.
For Louisville, August, September, and October have been top ten warmest months this year. Additionally, March was also a top ten warmest month. I found a year that may have been warmer overall, but was in the exact same list of top ten warmest months as this year. Anyone have a guess?
Without looking at data, I would guess 2007 first, then 2012 as my second guess. I know 2012 had the warmest March, but I think 2007 had the warmer late summer/early fall.
Please share the answer.
2007…subsequently, the winter of 07/08 was backloaded as the heaviest snowfall amounts occurred during February and March 2008, at least in north central Kentucky. It seems to be a recurring pattern the past few years anyway.
