Good evening, my fellow weather weenies. Right on cue, week 2 of November is wrapping up with changes toward winter. This morning brought the coldest air of the season with several locations in the upper teens to low 20s. As we make our way into the next few weeks, an early winter starts to show up more and more on the computer models.

The next several days are rather boring with seasonal temps and only a small chance for a shower.

The fun begins later in the week as a powerhouse of a storm system develops in the Rockies and heads toward the western Great Lakes. This my deliver a heck of a snowstorm for those areas.

Ahead of this system, our temps head toward 70 by late Thursday into Friday on a gusty southwesterly wind. As the front slams in here early Saturday, temps will start to tank and the numbers will keep dropping through Sunday. That’s when highs will likely be in the 30s.

Here’s the European Model for Friday Morning, Saturday Morning and Sunday morning…

Here’s a different look at the same model run in 6 hour increments. Notice how northwesterly winds try to bring snow showers and flurries in here…

The Canadian Model is also seeing the wraparound snowflake potential…

The models are also showing a clipper looking system diving in here late Tuesday into the busy travel day before Thanksgiving…

The Canadian is picking up on some flakes with that…

Again, that’s 10 days away so take that with a ginormous grain of salt. Still, it shows the trend of a potential early start to winter.

Thanksgiving week on the GFS Ensembles has a very cold look. Here is the average temperature departure in Celsius for the entire week…

For a smoothed out Ensembles average… that’s a pretty cold look.

I will see you guys back here later tonight for another update. Until then, take care.
