Good evening, everyone. We continue to deal with some light snow and flurries across the region this evening as we await an arctic cold night ahead. I wanted to drop by for a very brief update on this frigid evening.
The Sunday-Monday system continues to look like we talked about earlier, so there’s no change to all that.
Beyond that comes arctic air for the middle and end of next week. That’s when we see the GFS continues to see a series of systems working across the arctic front slowly pushing through our region…
There is now a Parallel version of the GFS running. I believe it’s slated to eventually become the main GFS model. It shows much more robust systems along the arctic front…
It will be interesting to see how all this works out. You can clearly see that’s a heck of a big push of arctic air coming into the country… Again. Snow chances will be fine tuned as we get closer and see exactly how all this evolves.
I also want to say thanks for all the kind comments today. I started KWC in hopes of it becoming a true weather community for Kentucky and surrounding areas. It has become that and so much more, and I have all of you to thank for that.
I will see you guys for another update later tonight. Make it a good one and take care.
I enjoy this blog so much and have for so many years. I don’t know what I would do without it! Seriously.
I feel the same way…been here since this site began and could not get by without it…Keep up the great work Chris and all of the weather weenies here on the blog!
The Parallel would be a good snow hit for a lot of US! Let it happen!
always like reading your blogs keep up the great work
I’m really beginning to think Marc Weinberg is the only met on planet earth that can hashtag the word sensationalism over 50 times in a day.
Agreed!
Your Welcome!
Yes you do provide great info for the entire state. Always a great read.
Thank you also!
For the record, I think both Weinberg and K Harned are ego manics. Goode should be the chief of WAVE, and Redfield should be the chief at WDRB. Just my opinion of course.
They do not get that this is a blog posting about models and estimates of them. CB has not said anything about big snow. It seems folks would need o be more north of us over the next few weeks to get a chance of a big snow.
Still seems CB estimate that big ice is the biggest chance this winter still holds. Reason being it has panned out so far as CB estimated. Not really a good thing though, since would suggest big ice is still looming as the main big threat for the second half of winter.
Kevin Harned is fine he never struck me as a ego maniac. I do like Brian Goode he’s another very good met. If I watch Wave3 it’s because of Brian Goode and Lauren Jones. When Wave3 let go of John Belski best met Louisville has ever had I rather lost interest with Wave to a point.
You’re the greatest, Chris! I’m sure it was the Salyersville upbringing. I start my day off each morning with KWC and coffee:)
Chris,
You are the best. I live in Northern Kentucky and completely depend on your forcasts over the guys up here. Thanks
As far as this winter, you guys are probably the ones needing the shovels at the ready. Us Lex metro area folks on south, perhaps not so much.
I rely more on your blog for my weather in Chesapeake, OH than I do my local stations. You will always be my go to. Thank you for taking your own time and keeping this website up and going.
Thank you for the update
and thank you for all you do!
Your very valuable time and great knowledge
are greatly appreciated!
Again, thank you for all you do!
I have read your blog for years. It one of the first things I do every morning. I check it out two or three times a day. I live in Southern Ohio and I know the forecast is not specifically for us, but you give a forecast that is wide enough to give me an idea of our weather. I know several other people in Southern Ohio that read you every day too. Please keep up the great blog! Thanks!!!
Your welcome!!
I really love this ..i have found myself checking it 2-3 times a day .thank you for all you do 🙂
Chris I depend on your blog for the best weather coverage. I really enjoyed it when you were on WSAZ but I get WKYT on cable so I still get the best weather coverage. I like the way you & your team do when there is severe weather coverage coming in the area. Thank you for the time you put in producing this blog. I really appreciate it!
I seriously had to grab some popcorn reading all of Marc’s tweets. I think he’s just trying to stir the pot to get more followers. No thank you.
Thanks, CB! 😛 We know it’s very early, but sure hope the freezing rain in Tennessee depicted on the GFS does not pan out. People around here still talk about the devastating 1994 ice storm.
Interestingly, the SPC is showing this Sunday could have a rumble or two of thunder, especially for western parts of KY and TN.
Everybody have a great weekend before getting ready for the next Arctic blast.
