Good afternoon, friends and neighbors. Very gusty winds are blowing across the state as temps drop from northwest to southeast. This strong northwesterly wind flow will then kick off snow showers and flurries this evening through Friday.
The best chance continues to be across the central and eastern parts of the state. Some light accumulations will be possible, especially in the east and southeast…
Here’s regional radar to watch these develop later today…
The next system quickly works in here as we close out 2016 on Saturday. Winds will continue to be gusty with chilly showers potentially mixing with a snowflake or two…
Gusty showers will continue into New Year’s Day as temps begin to climb. Those numbers may really take off on Monday as low pressure moves into the region…
If we get a storm system taking a track like that, high winds and some strong storms will be possible. At this point… why not? 🙂
Arctic air will then follow that up later Tuesday night into Wednesday. Some light snows will be possible just behind this boundary working through here.
The setup continues to then favor systems working just to our south and east. It’s always a good sign to see the GFS too far south with these…
I will hook you up with another update late today. Enjoy your Thursday and take care.
Could get a quick dusting from these snow squalls tonight.
Chris, how comfortable are you with your winter prediction for January? Looking at all information and your thoughts, do you think cold/snow is going to exceed expectations or fall short?
We won’t bat an eye if it’s more snow!!!
It’s funny how the weather channel keep changing there long term forecast for the country. No foundation what”s so ever when comes to forecasting.
We will always get that NW shift, from this far out. How much of a shift will be the question.
